Hello Nursing World,
I finally decided to make an account after coming to this site almost everyday, for the past several weeks, to research nursing topics. It has helped me greatly and Thank you all for you contributions!
I recently graduated from an ADN program and I am soooo happy and grateful that I was actually able to complete it because it was the MOST challenging experience I have EVER gone through in my entire life. I have to admit, it has been extremely hard to get back to the studying for the NCLEX. It's like my brain rejects the information every time I try to pick up a book and do questions... my brain says: "oh, no not you again." hahaha.... ugh! Never the less, I know I have to prepare for this beast which brings me to this post. I was thinking... Why not challenge some of you who plan on taking the NCLEX late? March/early April 2011?
What do you guys think? Maybe we can message each other here by the end of the day and share whether or not you met your daily goal. For example, I have 2 books (lacharity and Davis Q&A) and I plan on doing 100-150 questions a day until my test date. Even if I do 20-25 in increments throughout the day, the point is to do them daily. Then I will come here and share how my day went. That way we can motivate each other through this excruciating journey.
Whaddayasay huh?!?.... I plan on starting this Sunday... Let me know if any of you guys are interested, I would love to motivate and be motivated by you guys... We need to get together and tame this beast! Lets do this!!!!

HiI've been doing questions from the Saunders cd and doing ok.. getting scores in the 70s. But having done the exam once already, I know that the questions in Saunders are alot easier than the NCLEX exam. So I just started doing the 3 week NCSBN course online and I just did the pre test and got 57%. This is really discouraging me b/c I read the saunders book twice before doing this online course.. I should have gotten a better score. The questions are tricky. I'm so scared to write the exam now.. any advice/ encouragement?
hi, i used saunders too with my other books. try to do the study mode first in the cd , then go to the exam mode. in that way, you will be able to comprehend well and retain the rationale behind the answers.

I dont think i will have time to finish all the 4000+ questions on the saunders cd.. I am doing the study mode right now.. I've done about 700 questions from the study mode and about 400-500 in tests..

so when are you going to take the test? i will be taking by april 28. I will be moving to kaplan soon with LaCharity..
I was planning on taking my test on the 21st, monday but I didn't get my ATT in time and the only date that was reasonable was the 7th. Ugh, this is my second time. I am really nervous but I feeling like the extra two weeks are great. I did feel confident on monday but I think I will feel much better the first week of April. Good luck to all of us! Praying like crazy!
I took it yerterday it closed at 140 questions...OMG i'm so nervous, i really feel like I did horrible, but according to the trick I passed...so now to wait one more day...just make sure you take your time reading the questions, I got a lot of "which one requires further teaching" ...good luck to all, I'll let you guys know tomorrow, stay positive
hi guys:
try the practice test in http://www.exammaster2.com. it is free and there are lots of questions there . the good thing also is , it is a timed-test. so we can check how we manage our time in answering our questions.
good luck to us
Does anyone have an opinion on taking the Kaplan course for NCLEX prep?
I know stories of people who have not passed their boards and then take Kaplan and they pass. Kaplan personally didn't work for me, but I did love thier Questions which even if you decide not to take their review course you can pay for their Q-Bank which is a bank of about 3000 questions. Good Luck hope this helps some... :)
Thanks! I signed up for it because I need help with the test-taking strategy...not so much the content...I have trouble figuring out exactly what the question is asking and I've heard they help, so we'll see!! I start in May and take the NCLEX in June :)
Good Luck! They do have Good Test Taking strategies, one thing off the top of my head I remember they stand for it's not about knowing all of the content but more on how to answer the questions and the "strategies" to do that. so you'll have a plus of already knowing the content and learning their stratgeties :)
