Hello Nursing World,
I finally decided to make an account after coming to this site almost everyday, for the past several weeks, to research nursing topics. It has helped me greatly and Thank you all for you contributions!
I recently graduated from an ADN program and I am soooo happy and grateful that I was actually able to complete it because it was the MOST challenging experience I have EVER gone through in my entire life. I have to admit, it has been extremely hard to get back to the studying for the NCLEX. It's like my brain rejects the information every time I try to pick up a book and do questions... my brain says: "oh, no not you again." hahaha.... ugh! Never the less, I know I have to prepare for this beast which brings me to this post. I was thinking... Why not challenge some of you who plan on taking the NCLEX late? March/early April 2011?
What do you guys think? Maybe we can message each other here by the end of the day and share whether or not you met your daily goal. For example, I have 2 books (lacharity and Davis Q&A) and I plan on doing 100-150 questions a day until my test date. Even if I do 20-25 in increments throughout the day, the point is to do them daily. Then I will come here and share how my day went. That way we can motivate each other through this excruciating journey.
Whaddayasay huh?!?.... I plan on starting this Sunday... Let me know if any of you guys are interested, I would love to motivate and be motivated by you guys... We need to get together and tame this beast! Lets do this!!!!

:uhoh3:I am close to taking then nclex and my anxiety level is increasing. I just want to scream this will be my second time taking the exam. the last time I took the nclex I panic ran out of time. When I did received my result I was near or above passing in all categories. I am praying that all I can do for now

same here. i think i over analyzed the questions with no break for 6 hours.
So now I'm being positive and trying to lessen my anxiety in every way i can. (PRAY,PRAY PRAY,Eat, dance and SMILE looks silly though when im alone but it helps i guess)
just finished my QT4 exam and now going to review the rationale! :)

same here. I ran out of time my first time too.
I wonder for the next time, should we go really slow and careful on the first 75 questions? if it's still going pass 75th questions, should we still go slowly and carefully? because if we run out of time, only the last 60 questions will be graded. Or should we try to finish 265 questions before it run out of time? because they will look at all of our answers. Which will be better? I am really anxious whenever I think about the pearson vue testing center. :heartbeat:heartbeat:heartbeat
Btw, which nclex books are you using this time? what are you doing difference than your last time? How long would you spend to review again before retake the test?
OMG! So many replies, this makes me sooooo happy! I was without a computer for a month (must've been God telling me to focus) but now my laptop is all fixed up and I'm back to share with you guys how everything has been going on my end. By the way, I am scheduled for April 12 with another classmate of mine for support. So yeah, first 2 weeks I was into the studying very hard... I was on track but then I felt like I kept getting more and more questions wrong so I lost a bit of motivation and eventually withdrew from the studying all together. Like about 1 week past by and I got into this whole thing where I wanted to lose a little weight for the summer so I started eating better and exercising a bit. And I have to say that made a HUGE difference.
I've been doing this for about 2 weeks now and I feel like my mind is so much clearer and I'm quicker with answering my questions. Yay!
So basically that is what I will be doing from here on out... Staying away from fry foods, fast foods, high fat, etc and just eating a whole lot more of fruits and veggies. I always have a fruit by me when I'm studying now and non-salted nuts.... Also, drinking a lot more water.... Oh, and I notice that if I have some kind of block or a somewhat rough day, I go and work it off at the gym or if I dont have time I pop in the P90x yoga cd at home and after that am brand spanking new.
Listen, we are going through a lot mentally with the NCLEX preparation and we have to remember that we have to take care of ourselves first and foremost because if we don't we won't be able to function 100% on the day of the actual exam. If you read some of the research that people have done on the effects of stress/anxiety on the mind and the body when it comes to test taking you will be in shock! ......I remember in school I would do soo much better on exams that I wasn't stressing as much, go figure.
So here's the plan.... Buckle up, get your books in order, maintain a study schedule & goals, eat your fruits, veggies, and fish, drink plenty of water, spend an occasional hard core fun time with your love ones and leave the rest to God because he ultimately is the one who decides when we are ready to become an RN. :heartbeat
Stay focused !!!
@ Katm0r u using Kaplan Review and if you are, How are you doing so far? I am scoring between 58---68.
yup. i signed up for online anywhere. the first 4 days was awesome but after the class ended i have to study all by myself but im trying to stick to my schedule. my scores are pretty much like yours ( 55---71)
are you done with your question trainers?
I believe we will PASS the EXAM this time! :):):)
hi Awww_ItsMyNurse!
I so like your post!. studying is just one of essential ingredients to pass but it also includes mental and physical preparation.
whenever i burnout with all the questions i go out and grab some JAMBA juice! now Im thinking to squeeze time going to the gym since you motivate me to do so! :):):)
i do believe exercise helps a lot and with all the endorphins it will lessen the tension and anxiety :) thanks for your positivity its contagious!
thanks for sharing!
im praying for all of us! We Will PASS the NCLEX-RN EXAM!
JAMBA juice! YUMMAAAY! Haven't had one of those in a while. You should definitely do some exercise, its amazing how different you feel. It's funny cause we think we "don't have time" to work out when in all actuality by working out you're boasting your energy level which in turn can help you accomplish so much more...SO in essence what time did we really lose?... If that makes sense? You know what I mean? Like, as oppose to feeling all "draggy" and taking my sweet time I can do a lot more now cause Im pumped. Anything from a 30 min jog/run/walk to a hour of cardio is great. No need to overexert. Plus, I noticed I'm sleeping way better. :)
Can't never go wrong with some extra endorphins!
I Love your energy too Katm0! Let's keep spreading the positivity! woot woot!
