Hello Nursing World,

I finally decided to make an account after coming to this site almost everyday, for the past several weeks, to research nursing topics. It has helped me greatly and Thank you all for you contributions!

I recently graduated from an ADN program and I am soooo happy and grateful that I was actually able to complete it because it was the MOST challenging experience I have EVER gone through in my entire life. I have to admit, it has been extremely hard to get back to the studying for the NCLEX. It's like my brain rejects the information every time I try to pick up a book and do questions... my brain says: "oh, no not you again." hahaha.... ugh! :uhoh3: Never the less, I know I have to prepare for this beast which brings me to this post. I was thinking... Why not challenge some of you who plan on taking the NCLEX late? March/early April 2011? :yeah: What do you guys think? Maybe we can message each other here by the end of the day and share whether or not you met your daily goal. For example, I have 2 books (lacharity and Davis Q&A) and I plan on doing 100-150 questions a day until my test date. Even if I do 20-25 in increments throughout the day, the point is to do them daily. Then I will come here and share how my day went. That way we can motivate each other through this excruciating journey.

Whaddayasay huh?!?.... I plan on starting this Sunday... Let me know if any of you guys are interested, I would love to motivate and be motivated by you guys... We need to get together and tame this beast! Lets do this!!!!:lol2:

Thank you Caliotter3 :heartbeat I'm so anxious.

Awww_ItsMyNurse: I know how you feel but you have to press on. On the days that youfeel overly anxious, take a break and do something fun then get back in the groove again. :twocents: YOU CAN DO IT, THINK POSITIVE.

I'm taking NCLEX in 5 days... Iv'e been using the Hurst review.... it's been awesome...Aunt Marleen :) does a great review and teaches you how to read nclex questions. I'll let you know how I do, so far I'm feeling confident.

Hi everyone! I am new here...after reading several posts about various situations and people struggling along just like me...I realized: Hey! I might not be so alone! I graduated from nursing school five years ago and sat for the NCLEX for first time last week...after a lot of studying. Then, after reading the threads about the PVT (Pearson Vue Trick), I did the trick...according to that: I failed. After contacting my state board, it was confirmed: Failed. :(

I have three small kids and alot riding on this...but gosh, more than anything I don't want to be an "unsafe nurse". YiKeS!

So, I am trying to pull myself up by my boot straps and regroup.

I am hoping to take it again in 45 days. I studied Kaplan. Thinking about changing and trying Saunders. I got a lot of SATA questions-which I suck at. :( Any suggestions?

Lacharity book has a high recommendation...u may try it as well..goodluck to you...

saunders is a good book. if you don't understand some rationales you don't need to do more research, you can read from saunders. however, the cd questions are very easy. try to find something more challenging. kaplan is really good to learn how to take the test.

i just passed my nclex. first i did questions from illustrated study guide for the nclex-rn exam, did some questions from saunders q&a (not the review book), then did kaplan training 1-7.

good luck!!!

I did my exam two days ago and according to my unofficial result, I passed. the books I used were Saunders and Kaplan. I agree the questions in Saunders book and CD are too simple and those are not NCLEX questions. Kaplan has more practice questions online like Qbank and QT1-7, which was really helpful, I did 150 questions/day and went through each question for the rationale. In my opinion, Saunders is a good book to learn detailed stuff but i think Kaplan questions ROCK because those questions are similar to NClex, i hope this helps.

did you enroll Kaplan review online Jv?

I took the class which came with online questions, it was worth it

Hi all...I graduated last January, I'm taking the nclex at the end of this month, so far everyone from my class that have taken the nclex have passed with 75-78 questions, this is how they studied  ....they are doing questions from the nclex 4000, every time they encountered a question that they didnt know they would write down the topic, go to their old notes or the book and read about that specific topic, so that's exactly what I'm doing. I believe that just by doing questions and reading rationales is not enough, we learned a lot of stuff in nursing school, if you have an idea of what they are talking about when they ask you a question in the nclex, you have a better chance to pass....example they ask you...what will you do with a child with talipes valgus(i think that's how its spelled) if you have no idea what talipes valgus is most likely you'll have to guess.

When I do questions I pick the topics that I know I need to review, I know I'm really good with cardiac and resp so I don't bother with those, but I'm weak when it comes to peds and pharmacology so I'm reviewing those. BTW, go over pharm and learn LAB VALUES that's a big one, know levels of digoxin(0.8-2.0), lithium(0.8-`1.2) they might ask you...a pt is receiving digoxin and his serum levels are 1.5 what would you do...not give it, give it etc...you know the deal... i also heard there were a lot of questions on chemo drugs, and don't stress too much on peds so far everybody that has taken it only had 1 or zero questions. I hope this helps a little bit, good luck to all!!! I hope i didn't bored you to death
