NCLEX Incompetence or Disorganization?

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Good Afternoon,

I'm sorry for not posting the last couple days. I took an advise of a friend to take my mind off the NCLEX RN and promised not read or write about the it, but this is killing me. So, :typing

I took my 1st test 5/12 and stopped at 75 and feel unsure if I passed or failed. I've been waiting now for 10 business days and not seen my name on the California BRN website. As a result I now believe that I failed and would like to start STUDYNG! again.

So on Friday 5/23 I called the BRN and was able to speak with my "evaluator". I have my doubts as to her excuse, however, she told me that she was not able to tell me my results over the phone and the reason for the delay was that she did not have my transcripts from school. Without it she cannot process my test results.

So I called the dean of nursing at my school. To make this short, and with a lot of phone calls, it turned out that all of my stuff was sent to the boards (the 1st time) and that the admissions office will resend my transcripts.

Im' so mad. The board had no intention of contacting me of this error. I don't believe them. This is probably their way of saying "you failed", "wait for the letter", "I don't want tell you the bad news over the phone".

Has anyone experienced what I'm going through?:banghead::bluecry1:

Specializes in ob/gyn med /surg.

i've never heard such a thing.. are you sure you failed???

Specializes in medical/surgical.

I had a classmate who went through the same thing. She took the test and did not know if she passed or failed. She then contacted the california boards and was told the same thing (transcripts not in, etc.)

A month later, she received her license through the mail. I don't know if this does occassionally happen, but this was her story. Good luck. :wink2:

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Ca will allow you to sit the exam if they haven't received transcripts but will not issue results until your file is complete

CA is the worst for maing people wait for NCLEX reults.

Hang in there. I'm betting you passed at 75.

It's the responsibility of the applicant to make sure all the documentation has gotten to the BON -- it's not the BON's job to contact you and let you know that they haven't received something.

There actually is not one BON in the US that follows up with a candidate if their file is not complete. It is the responsibilty of the person that is wishing to test.

And the delay in the transcripts should be discussed with your school, as they are the ones that are responsible for sending them. Again, it is not the job of the BON to contact your school.

And it is a well known fact that scores are never released unless there is a completed file. This is not anything new. And you should be happy that you were permitted to write the exam early, most other states do not permit it and you could have waited for six to eight weeks to be able to even test.

And as a final note, just because something was sent, does not mean that it was received. I am sure that you have sent things before someplace and it did not show up. The school also may have not sent your items in and thought that they did.

Best of luck to you with your results, but do not blame them for this as it was not their responsibility at all if the transcripts never made it to them for whatever reason.

You have had them sent, and then just need to wait. That is why we always tell people to wait two weeks and if nothing is heard, then contact them to see if there is anything missing. And you have done that.

And you are blaming the exam in your title of the thread and this has nothing to do with the actual exam, but your transcripts and those alone.

Thanks,

You have been helpful, I guess I just need to take your first advise and "Breathe".

I hope so... 4 years of school needs to pay off.

Thanks, sorry it had to happen to her but now I feel better.

No, I just feel like I did but the circumstances just validated my feelings of doubt. Three of my classmates know, all having passed at 75, tell me that I did fine. So, I'm just painfully waiting for my future.
