Since the NCSBN is raising the passing standard and revising the exam beginning April 1, 2011, I have decided it is in my best interest to take my exam before the end of March, if at all possible. I am investigating what would be my best strategies as I study for the test. I am devouring Saunders and two other books along with cds. My question is, does anyone think that 5 weeks of intense study is enough to pass the NCLEX-PN? I am ready to commit 5-7 hours daily (5-6 days/week) to this, but the thought of having to take the exam in just 5 weeks slightly terrifies me, since I am nowhere near ready yet! I am just not sure if this goal is even realistic, or if I should just take my time and study at a slower pace and face the tougher exam/higher pass standards in April or May. That option also terrifies me, lol! Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! :o

Five weeks may be plenty of time, five months may not be enough. It is up to you and how you go about it.

I also decided to take the NCLEX this month since the passing rate will be raised next month. I just started studying saunder's, exam cram, and ncsbn learning ext. I have major anxiety though so I just want to take it and get it over with. I set my date for March 14, but i'm thinking about changing it to the 10th.(the thought of those 4 extra days of being anxious is killer) I just want to take it and get it over with. only you know how long will be enough for you. personally i think 3 weeks is good enough for me. God willing we will pass

..dont' get me wrong though.. I'm still nervous as hell :flmngmd:

I wish I had your guts and confidence, Hopeful310! I have been studying hard but there seems to be so much more left to commit to long-term memory. I always did well on tests in school, but the focus moved so rapidly that some core content just didn't stick in there too well. It's looking like I'm going to have to take the newer version of the test, which I truly wanted to avoid. Just wish I had known sooner about the test changing so I would have buckled down and started studying hard 2 months ago.

To be perfectly honest, when I took LPN boards almost 7 years ago I had studied, but not nearly as much as I should/could have. I left the testing center crying and no one could tell me I passed...until I called the board 3 days later, and found out that I actually had passed. I totally guessed a majority of the questions, and I think I got maybe 150 questions. Cramming and wracking your brain wont help. Just be confident and know wacha know, because I think that looking back on it now I didnt guess, I just didnt realize how much I really knew. Think ABC's, Maslows, infection control and please remember PAIN IS PSYCHOSOCIAL, so thats never the answer (unless its chest pain). All that being said, I AM VERY NERVOUS ABOUT TAKING NCLEX RN THIS MONTH! I wish you all nothing but the very best (for you to be an LPN before the end of the month)!!!! Woo-hoo!!!

I'm glad im not the only one Im also taking the NCLEX PN and been trying to schedule myself on March 31st but now Im getting really nervous :uhoh21:and im not confident enough to take it. I work FT +36hours/week i been studying off and on since last year december. I'm studying frm Saunders LaCharity and Davis Q&A (I really find it challenging even if its made for RN) and also the Random facts/notes they have posted here really help.

The last time i took the exam was late summer 2010 and I didnt get any alt Qs, no math but like 15ish SATAs and 2 same infection control Q wch I know i got wrong twice cuz my nerves got to me :throcomp: and I stopped at 85 and failed

Now here I am studying again and debating whether if I should take my test again before April or after cuz yes ppl mentiond scores dont matter but I been scoring 50-60%wch is not enough.

Can someone pls help should or should I not take the exam March 31st or reschedule according to my scores wch is ya that low :chair: any tips/advice i would appreciate it. Thanks

I'm scheduled to take the test on April 8th. I'm studying the Saunders comprehensive review for the Nclex PN book. Does anyone know if the Saunders book will still be helpful when testing after April 1st. Or should I use the Davis book that states to have the new format for the new Nclex test? I am so confused and scared to death of this test. I did great throughout the year, but to know that a computer determines your future is just the scariest thing.

Can someone please provide me some insight as to which book I should focus on studying on? Or if I should be studying both?

Am getting ready for my nclex exam in april hv studied alot of books but am focused on saunders the questions are going to be draft from all topics but in different ways am so scared myself this is my 3rd sitting please who recently sat for the nclex exam and is saunders book still usefull the edition four wll appreciate if i can gt a reply .....thanks

hi, l am new here. l have been coming on this site for a while now but never logged on. l think you can do it if you put your mind to it. l graduated in august 07. took the nclexpn twice and failed. l was working as a cna at that time. never took the time to study really good. l registered again this year, l decide be serious with my studing. l did 3- 4 weeks with intense studing. That will be seven - eight hours of study. No t.v.' cell phone, facebook, nothing just studing. l took my boards on march 30th and l passed. so l believe you can do it if you put your mind to it. good luck.

Wrote my nclex pn exam today hmmmm the question came very easy and tricky the computer shut down at 100 i pray i passed ..has anyone s computer shut down at 100 and passed ???.....plz i need ur response asap!!!:confused:

Sure, lots of people get over 85 questions and pass. Some people get all the questions and some people run out of time and they still pass. Your best bet is to try the Pearson Vue re-register trick that has been written about all over this website. Let us know how you did! Good luck to you!! :)
