Hopeful NCLEX-PN March 2011

Published

Hello,

Since the NCSBN is raising the passing standard and revising the exam beginning April 1, 2011, I have decided it is in my best interest to take my exam before the end of March, if at all possible. I am investigating what would be my best strategies as I study for the test. I am devouring Saunders and two other books along with cds. My question is, does anyone think that 5 weeks of intense study is enough to pass the NCLEX-PN? I am ready to commit 5-7 hours daily (5-6 days/week) to this, but the thought of having to take the exam in just 5 weeks slightly terrifies me, since I am nowhere near ready yet! I am just not sure if this goal is even realistic, or if I should just take my time and study at a slower pace and face the tougher exam/higher pass standards in April or May. That option also terrifies me, lol! Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! :o

CHECK MY RESULT TODAY I FAILED AGAIN THE 3RD TIME BEEN SO DOWN ALL DAY DONT KNW WHERE TO START FRM ....:mad:AM SOO CONFUSED. DONT KNW WHERE MY PROBLEM IS DURING MY EXAM CAME ACROSS PRIORITIS.ED THAT HV NT COME ACROSS ...WHAT CAN I DO BECAUSE ALL THE PRACTISE QUESTION IS QUITE DIFFERENT FROM THE NCLEX EXAM ...ALL THOSE THAT HAVE PASSED CAN U PLZ TELL ME WHAT IS THE STRATEGY U USE TO ANSWER THE QUESTION ...RIGHT NOW HAVE MADE UP MY MIND I KNOW HAVE FAILED THIS EXAM BUT WHEN THERE IS LIFE THERE IS HOPE WLL PULL MY STRING BACK AND TRY TO STrt reading againg abt to register for the kaplan online review or if u can suggest another method of passing this exam wll appreciate it:confused:

sorry to hear that yu did not pass but do not give up. l graduated in 07, took my first exams in 07 and failed, then in 08 and failed and 09 and failed. the last time l took it was in 09. so l decided to take it again which l took on 3/30/11. this time l sat down seven to eight hours behind the book. l used saunders comprehensive 3rd edition but l know they have 4th. this time was my 4th time, what l did different was learned the core contents. l glanced through ob. l aslo used abc, maslow, and nursing process to answer the nclex. l also used elimination like kaplan said. l eliminate the wrong answers during my exams. some one also posted infection control which also helped me alot because l had alot of infection control on my nclex. l believe if l graduated in 07 and been able to pass this time then you can do it. good luck. infection control is as follows. hope this will encourage you.

THANK U VERY MUCH FOR UR WORD OF ENCOURAGEMNT THE SAME QUESTION CAME UP INFECTION CONTROL, ABC NURSING PROCESS , IF A NURSE HAS 4 PATIENT WHICH ONE WILL YOU ATTEND FIRST I CAME ACROSS ALOT OF SUCH SCENEROUS I FINK I ANSWERED IT WRONGLY .I WILL GO THRU THE INFECTION CONTROL FORMATT U GAVE COS I KNW I WLL NEED IT .THANKS ALOT:idea:

you are welcome. l did have priority questions too. with those you see the critical patient first. remember not all the questions are abc. lf they are not then you look into maslows, lf that does not work then nursing process.

with priortization, l believe if you know the core content you will be fine because, if you know the core content then you should know the sign and symptoms. They also say you should do alot of practice questions and read all the rationals. on the day of the exams just relax and write down whatever you remember on that board they give you . l wrote the infection control down on the board or sheet{that is what l call it } they give to you so anytime l get any of those questions, then l refer to it. know your labs too. you can do it.

lf you think you need one then go for it and see how it will go. l studied on my own for all four exams that l took but if you think you might need a review class l will say go for it. good luck. remember if you were able to finish nursing school then you can do it. don't give up on your dream cause loosers do. also don't forget to pray and pray and pray. you will be fine.

If you take Kaplan review course, they guarantee that you pass or your money back. You cant beat that! It seems like you are having trouble with strategy and answering the questions, so in your case I think Kaplan would be good for you. There is a hefty price tag for Kaplan, but if you need help with strategy I recommend it. God bless and best of luck with your next exam. You can do it!! Most of all if you believe in God just pray that your path will be directed!
