Awaiting Nclex results..anyone with me???

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hi everyone..

I am new to the board. I just took my nclex monday, feb 12 in san diego california. The test was an absolute nightmare. I graduated from my lvn program with really good grades and I swear I felt like I knew nothing on that exam. Especially the pharmacology. I am wondering if I can still pass if I completely bombed the pharm??

Also, I heard that you can't check the bvnpt website for licence verification, in california, in order to find out if you passed sooner?? I heard they don't post your name until you pay the $100 fee?? Any truth to that cause I have been checking the website daily and nothing.

Anyway..just hoping to meet some others playing the waiting game with me!! Hopefully by the grace of god I passed! It will be a miracle, but I have hope. Also my test shut off at 85. Good luck to all those waiting and congrats to those that have passed cause that was one crazy test!!!

Hello...i totally understand how you feel about waiting for results. CA really needs to switch to giving results online. i took my test on 1/12/07 stopping at 85 questions, very nervous. i was told if you pass, you'll get a regular white envelope, and if you fail, you'll get a larger envelope with a new application in it. i felt the same, that i might have bombed it. but, i passed and got results exactly 2 weeks later on 1/26. then i had to pay the $120 for my license (2007 amount for CA). then had to wait 2 more weeks for the license to come in the mail. a very stressful time, but take it easy, and have faith that u passed. Good luck!

Thanks for the info LA_LVN. I know it's probably not the same for everyone, 2 weeks for results vary I'm sure, but at least I know what to expect from someone that just took it. And congrats on passing! :D

Do they have the paperwork in your envelope (telling you if you passed) to send in the $120 for the license?

I am one of those [maybe unfortunate] ones who took my nclex-pn yesterday [2.20] and took the entire exam - yes, all 205 questions. Once 85 hit, it kept going...then I realized I was already at 140...then 180...then I thought to myself, "oh, why bother stopping now? I'm almost at the end." I left feeling...unsure. It seemed like 100 questions were on meds, another 100 were on prioritization. I know about 5 of my friends did the entire 205 and passed, I hope to be like them. Day 1 and counting...

pagandeva...

That is so funny. I remember getting the question..narrowing down to two answers..I would start to think about it then just say screw it and picked one. I felt like I was wasting my time thinking about it cause I was never gonna get it. Then after the test things started coming to me especially about the drugs. I could have kicked myself for not giving myself more time. I just had a "whatever" attitude and kept thinking the next question would be easier. Those easy questions never came!! Owell..I can only pray I got enough right to pass.

Also..someone mentioned that the board gets your transcripts??? Is that just to verify you passed the program?? Do your grades have anything to do with passing the exam. Probably a stupid question, but I was just curious.

I do believe that the school must contact the board somehow to let them know that you did, in fact, actually attend the program. There are a certain amount of contact hours that is supposed to be done for each student, I think. If you think about it, that would mean ANYONE can apply, pay the money and take the exam. My school took pictures of us that were sent to the State Board of Nursing along with information like our social security numbers and such. I don't think that the grades obtained in school relate to passing NCLEX. I wish it can be that easy...if you passed school in order to actually sit for the exam, then, you just pass. It would have taken a serious load off of my back. In fact, actually, I do believe that a person should be able to graduate and begin working without NCLEX. That exam was so ridiculous and it does not really measure what sort of nurse a person will be. It shows that we can regurgitate whatever they want to hear, yes, but not a measure of nursing performance and dedication.

I wish you the best of luck! I have also heard of many people lasting until 205and passing. What I wish they would do is give an idea of what questions were right. I'll never know what it took for the computer to decide that I passed that insane exam.

Thanks LALVN...

That info is helpful. Hopefully I will hear something in the next few days. I can't believe the price went up..my goodness! 75$ reg fee, 200 test fee, 120 license fee, 200 IV cert fee...what else?? Forget how much I spent on testing materials that werte absolutely useless. I better have passed!

Karyn..don't stress! I have read so many threads on this board and have seen a tone of people pass with the max questions. My friend took his boards on feb 1st and he got the max. Not sure if he got his results yet, but I will let you know. This wait really is horrible in california. I seriously wanna go to the boards office and protest! Good Luck to you!!! I will keep my fingers crossed for you and me!!

I figured grades had nothing to do with your results, but it would be nice! I had a 4.0 in my nursing program and I honestly knew only a handful of questions on the nclex. Either my school didn't instruct properly or I just forgot everything, or this test is just insane. I don't know!

Thanks everyone. I graduated back in November and am the 2nd person from my class to take the exam. The 1st person was our class salutatorian - and she stopped at 85 saying it was HARD for her and that she felt she only knew 5 of the questions. So from what i've been reading everywhere, it looks like in CA - if you passed, you get your snail mail in 2 weeks...if you failed, it takes longer. Why am I in CA again?? Haha.

Hi Poohbear73!

I wish you the best of luck and hoping that you receive POSITIVE news. My hubby took the NCLEX PN the day after you did (13 Feb) and still waiting. I'm more anxious than he is. Sounds crazy eh? We're checking the mailbox everyday too :/. Hang in there and god bless!

I took my Nclex-pn exam today and it shut off at 205 questions. I am freaking out and was crying the whole way home. I don't know anyone who has passed with that many questions...Is there hope for me.

Yes..people pass with 205 questions. I see it on the board alot. I will keep my fingers crossed for you! When do you get your results? I live in california and am still waiting. Today is 19 days since my exam. I am beginning to think I really failed since it is taking so long to get these results. I just wanna know one way or another.

Subterfuge.. Have you received your results yet???

I'm confused. I registered in Calif. with PearsonVue (testing center) to take the test, paid $200. which our school reimbursed us for, then got my ATT and scheduled my appt. (for feb. 26) so do I still have to pay $100 ? And will it get posted on the board website any earlier or the letter comes first?

Another classmate of mine took it 2 wks ago friday and hasn't heard anything so 3 wks is definitely torture. She said the same thing about pharmacology and feels she didn't pass.

And yes, I'm stressing big time, but hanging in there and studying hard hard hard! I hope I don't pass out during the test!

Yes, you paid for the exam, but you did not pay the licensing fee. Most states require that you pay that to them before they will let you test. CA is the only one that has you pay afterwards, when you pass the exam.

If you do not pass, then you do not pay for the license. In any other state, you would need to pay again that same license fee.

No one in CA that wrote the PN exam for CA will find out their results fairly quickly. It is three weeks to a month on average until you will get the letter. You will not see your name on their website until the license fee bill has been paid and an actual license has been issued to you.
