  1. I graduated in Dec 2006, took my 1st test Feb '07, stopped at 205-failed, took again in June '07, stopped at 205 again-failed, took it a 3rd time in March '08-FAILED at 145. I took a 3 day review course in Dec '07, have studied Lippincott & Saunders. I need to pass this test & nothing is working! I'm focused, but seem to have a hard time doing prioritizations & meds on the nclex. I study chapter by chapter & when it comes to prioritization on the NCLEX, I can't figure out which pt comes first when I've read each chapter seperately! On the meds, how can I even begin to remember each side effect & at what time to take each med? I'm sooo tired of disappointing my family, but nursing is my passion & it frustrates me that I can't even pass!
  2. Another reason for people saying there's a shortage is because what RN's out there want to leave their high paying positions to get a lower salary as a teacher? There aren't enough teachers in California...so all programs here are impacted. I'm not sure if it's the same anywhere else, but at the hospitals in CA, a majority of the time, if an LVN/LPN leaves, they fill that position with an RN - there are fewer [if any] positions for LVN/LPN's at the hospitals now.
  3. I just took my NCLEX-PN in CA yesterday. I stopped at the max - 205 questions. In regards to "PRAYER" - I got a ton of med questions that asked WHEN do you give the meds...at bedtime/morning on empty stomach/morning with breakfast, etc. I think about 100 questions were on meds & 100 were on prioritization. It's only DAY 1 for me - I heard that here in California, if you pass you'll get your results in 2 weeks...if you fail, you get your results in 4 weeks. So I must wait...day 1 down...
  4. Thanks everyone. I graduated back in November and am the 2nd person from my class to take the exam. The 1st person was our class salutatorian - and she stopped at 85 saying it was HARD for her and that she felt she only knew 5 of the questions. So from what i've been reading everywhere, it looks like in CA - if you passed, you get your snail mail in 2 weeks...if you failed, it takes longer. Why am I in CA again?? Haha.
  5. I am one of those [maybe unfortunate] ones who took my nclex-pn yesterday [2.20] and took the entire exam - yes, all 205 questions. Once 85 hit, it kept going...then I realized I was already at 140...then 180...then I thought to myself, "oh, why bother stopping now? I'm almost at the end." I left feeling...unsure. It seemed like 100 questions were on meds, another 100 were on prioritization. I know about 5 of my friends did the entire 205 and passed, I hope to be like them. Day 1 and counting...
  6. Does anyone living in California know how I can obtain a Vocational Nurse Interim Permit? I'm graduating from VN school this week [finally!] and have heard that a few places in the area are hiring I.P's - but I was just on the state lvn website and I guess I'm just not looking in the right place because I don't see any information [except fees] on how to obtain the permit.
