NCLEX is anxiety

Published

I am going to take the NCLEX RN on Monday. Anxiety is kicking in. I just don't understand why it has to be such a unknown. I've been hearing all kinds of information related to this exam and just don't know what to make of any of it. I've studied alot and have completed over 3,000 question, took the kaplan course and am still studying. Is this enough? :stone

Welcome to allnurses, icukk! It sounds to me like you are doing everything you should be doing to be successful. I think it provokes such anxiety because everything you have worked for comes down to this. It's JUST a test, like any other test you have taken throughout school. You have to tell yourself that. You have prepared well, and you can't let the anxiety take over. Relax this weekend...I'll be thinking of you on Monday:)

Hello! It sounds like you are well prepared, even if you are feeling nervous. I feel the same way-I'm taking it in three weeks, and am already really nervous too! Hang in there, and just keep telling yourself you are going to ace it!!!!!! :)

I am taking the NCLEX Monday also, and I am a ball of nerves as well! I took a review course and I've been using the disk from that course and the NCLEX 3000 disk to study for several weeks now. I don't know if I've been doing to much at a time or what but I am not doing as well with these questions as I would like. I did very well in school, but now.... It's the stress or something! :uhoh3:

Hey!! Sounds like you have prepared very well. I took the NCLEX on Thursday and I also took the Kaplan review course. I will have to say that the majority of my questions were very very similar to those from Kaplan. I swear there was one exactly word for word with almost exactly the same answers to choose from also. I had a lot of "priority" questions, like which patient would you see first, or call back first. Sounds like you're doing a great job preparing, try not to stress out so much. Get the ear plugs at the testing center and then just relax in your own little world!!!

Good luck!!!

Hey guys!!

How many times have you read on this board "Oh, I failed, I just know it." How many times, huh? Now how many times have you read " I PASSED!!!!!!!!?" Same as I did. Now, GO TO IT!

I'm right there with ya! We're all freaking out, feeling like we're just gonna bomb it, thinking we aren't studying enough, not studying the right things, not sure what the heck to expect, scared it's going to be really bad ........ yep I think all that's normal.

Like movingalong said, everyone posts saying that "I failed the NCLEX, I just know I failed it!", then a couple days later they say "I passed the NCLEX!". And they were scared to death just like we are.

Please just try to relax (I know easier said than done). It sounds like you've done everything you're supposed to (3,000 questions, prep course) .... sounds like you've prepared well for it. Now just put the books down! No more studying! Enjoy those movies tomorrow, relax, have fun, eat well and get some good sleep. Go into the testing center on Mon. saying in your head "I WILL PASS THIS! I WILL PASS THIS!". And you will! :) Good luck, you'll be just fine!!

Good luck to you. I take mine at 2p. I am happy about that because a morning person I am not. Coffee time is required. I know all will go well for both you and I and I look forward to hearing "I passed" from both of us. This stress is ridiculous. Hope to hear from you soon. You'll do it!!!!!

ps. I have to know. Where did the screen name come from. Love it.

Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement. I hate saying this, but I'm glad I'm not alone. I am still studying this morning, but only things I know I'm still a little weak on. Endocrine, babies, couple of drugs. I plan on vegging by this afternoon. I have not even touched my Kaplan disk of questions, but I'm only going to do 2 of them and not all 7 questions. Yes, I know this goes against what I said, but hey, this is our life right? I'll give everyone a heads up on what I see on the test. I've heard many things, but one consistent thing has been Endocrine and prioritizing. Hey if I get all prioritizing I know I"m good.

Same here! I had at least 5 that were word-for-word from my Kaplan questions (my second time around)!
