NCC Spring 2021 NASSAU COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi Everyone, I am a Liberal Arts student at NCC right now and interested in "Change of Program" to Nursing for Spring 2021. I have almost all the Pre-reqs done with 3.7 GPA. Only thing I worry about at this moment is the TEAS Exam. I did not take the TEAS yet and due to the COVID-19, there's no any test date available in my area. Do you guys know if they would consider my application without the TEAS? Please let me know if you know anything about this situation. Thank you

Hey! Right now we are taking ESC courses. The  History class is pretty writing intensive. We are moving into NUR 101 in the Spring semester.

How is the remote learning influencing the classes?

Does anyone know the min points needed to be considered?
I never applied to Nursing, not Nassau resident, pass the TEAS, and have all courses except Patho and bio medical

As far as I know there is no specific minimum number for consideration. It's a points system and they take the top XXX out of the application pool.

Got it! Thanks

JGVargas,

I'm applying for the day program in Spring 2021. Do you think my stats good?

TEAS = 72.7% (not too happy about the overall score, but I'm glad the individual subject scores below are all above 58.7%)

Science = 66%

English = 91.7%

Reading = 78.7%

Math = 65.6%

A&P 1 - A

A&P 2 - B

General Psych - A

Lifespan Psych - A+

English 1 - A

English 2 - A

History - B+

Sociology - A

Microbiology - A

Statistics - C

I'm also not a nursing major.

So if I'm calculating right, thats somewhere between 150-157 points?

I know for the TEAS... If you scored on any section... 58.7-80%, thats 5 points... 81%-90%, thats 10 points... 91%-100%, thats 15 points. So based on my TEAS, that should give me 30 points (out of 45 possible).

Hi everyone,

there is another nursing info session Tuesday, October 20th on zoom again at 4pm. I’m gonna try and ask how many students they’re accepting for the Spring.. to see if it has changed. And any other important info I hear I’ll post on this thread.  Mid to late November seems like forever for all of us waiting, the anticipating is killing me already LOL. Just gotta hang in there! ?

Hi everyone, good luck and hope everyone who applied gets in. I’m currently on my second year. One and half semesters to go! I got in with an overall78% TEAS , I think my highest was math 82 and 68 science. My was 3.6 GPA with all the pre-reqs completed and I have a bachelors. I was accepted as a second semester evening student so my class was the first evening section to take NUR 101 and ESC classes together. To be honest, I really don’t like the program and Im sure most of my classmates feel the same. They are so disorganized and archaic. The First prof are OK, NUR 105 is great bur this semester is pretty bad, not sure if im allowed to post here so we’ll just leave it as bad. LOL ..My class started with 30 by the end of 105 only 21 left. There’s 31 this semester cause 10 people added to our class are repeating.  If you get in, practice math because you will take a math test every semester. 101 you need to pass with an 85 then 90 until you graduate. There is also a peds math you need to get a 100 to pass. We just to it and some failed. Most teachers for evening are over 65 years old so very old school. We pretty much teach ourselves in the evening class. We are shown a skill once then expect to know it. Youtube will your best friend lolX  I chose NCC because its close to home and the tuition, also the fact you can take the NCLEX after you get the associates part and possibly be able to work while completing the BSN part. I cant speak for the day section but the evening section is terrible! ESC professors are great though, I love the ones I’v had so far except sociology LOL. Good Luck!

My apologies! My notifications didn't come in for your comment. I am in the day program. Most students will be taking the ESC courses which include a sociology and history class before taking NUR 101. It is a requirement by ESC and NCC.

hi! how do you like the program?how would you rate it?

Hi! Quick question - so the TEAS is calculated by section? If 15 points possible per section, is it 60 possible for TEAS overall? I've seen a lot of posts on how to calculate points for the classes, but no one's been sure about TEAS. Just wondering for myself :) Thanks!

Hi Chloebleu

thank you very much for sharing. I also applied for the evening session, so If I get in, I might have similar experiences. I’m scared but I have to tough it out. Congrats on your efforts so far and soon you will be a nurse ?. Hang in there.

Hello everyone,

  I also applied for the nursing day program. Wising good luck to all of us?

I’m not 100% sure. Based on previous threads I think it’s per section. The highest is 15 points per section depending on your grade.

I’d have to come back to you on that because I haven’t started NUR 101 yet. We are currently doing ESC courses for our first semester
