Hey ya'all! I was just wondering if any of you out there have went to the boards for Navy Nurse Corps recently have heard anything?? Im pretty sure my packet went the end of March or beginning of April. I haven't heard anything and dont really feel like bugging my recruiter....again.... so I thought I would ask here first! Thanks in advance :)!!!
Hi cumberland40! Congrats!
I just have a question.. You said you will be graduating this May but you are selected already. Does that mean your application has already been viewed? I also will graduate this May, but NAvy Nusing corp recruiter told me to come back after graduation.. That's why I haven't been doing anything but waiting. Did your recruiter said it's okay to apply before graduating? Sorry to bother you these questions, and I really thank you in advance!
yes, i started my application process at the beginning of the year and I would encourage you to start as well. Talk to your recruiter again...its a long process and you will probably be still getting all of your packet together even after you graduate. Good luck, its a daunting amount of paperwork, but its worth it :)
hey guys, my recruiter emailed me and said that i got selected for the navy nurse corps!! the quota for the fiscal year has been met so i should plan on going to ods on october but i am on the alternate list so there is a chance i could go after i graduate this may.my question to you guys is, after i graduate on may, what should i expect? am i going to receive a letter telling me i got selected for commission on october or i have to wait until my recruiter call me and tell me what to do ? i want to make plans after my graduation like a month vacation but it is hard to make those plans if i don't know how everything will play out especially if i don't know the process involved.
cumberland,
i was wondering the same thing. please let us know if you hear anything.
i am not actually a nurse; i am applying as an environmental health officer. however, we go through the same process as direct accession nurses. there are very few eho's in the navy, so there are not any message boards for us. i have been lurking around here since the beginning of the year and i want to thank everyone for the info i have been able to glean from the postings. my packet went to the board on the 15th but was not reviewed. my recruiter told me that the board eho was on leave, so it was not reviewed. i have been working at this since december 08 and i think i will pull out my hair if they tell me to wait until the next fy.
what do you guys mean by selected but pending approval after graduation. This is not what I was told. I was told that it was already approved and therefore I should plan on going to ODS on Octobers since the quota was met. I am also in the alternate list so I can go anytime after May 14, 2009.
I dont know if my recruiter was bullshiting me or what, coz I told her Im getting scholarship grants from some hospitals coz I have good GPA but if I accepted it then I have to forget about going to the NAvy. Plus, because I was trying to finish my bachelor's, I changed my status to working part-time but now that Im graduating, I need a full-time job. So if Dont hear from the Navy, then I probably have to change my plan. Then she emailed me back telling me I got selected.
did someone say the quota for this fiscal year has been met??? i hope not because i have been working on my ncp application since november and it's just now getting to the boards. that would suck because if that's the case i might as well try my chances with the hrsa scholarship. this has been such a long process to be told that i would have wait even longer. does anyone know when the next board meeting is?
My recruiter told me that the quota for the fiscal year has been met. But she also mentioned that the Navy prioritize the reserves and NCP. So, if it was true that the Navy met its fiscal year and NCP is the priority, you should expect going to ODS on October. What I really hate is why those recruiters don't tell us exactly the truth. It is obvious that the recruiters were telling us different things. So, Im done reading allnurses.com for this topics because it just keeps giving you wrong information. I hate to think like this but it seems to me that its either they don't tell us exactly the truth or they just don't know what they are doing. So, for my recruiter who told me that I should expect getting to ODS on October, thats fine, I will wait until October. But if I dont get to ODS on October, then thats it for me. At least I tried my best to be part of the Navy. I dont want my high GPA and my experience and young opportunities (Im only 26, single and willing to relocate anywhere) will be working with people who either dont know what they are talking or doing and don't tell me exactly the truth, I rather work in a civilian environment.
