Hi Everyone :)

Just wanted to start a thread for everyone that's applied to the Navarro College ADN-RN program starting Fall 2012.

Figured we needed a place to post, ask each other questions etc. while waiting on our acceptance letters..... I was told they won't be sent out until the end of May. Has anyone else heard otherwise?

Not at all. Mine lasted till 12:30. :p It actually didn't seem like it even took 3hrs at all, time flew!!!!!! :)

Josh, I am trying to plan ahead with my sister who will be watching my kids so is friday a regular scheduled day or is it just for extra skills practice?

Thanks Tim! I was hoping it wasn't. Def don't wanna be in a CPR class all day on my only Sat off in June! Lol.

I still haven't got a chance to take nutrition yet, would it be a bad idea to take it while in the program or should I try to take it this summer???

Specializes in ER / Critical Care.

Hi RaeAnn,

I personally, would take it in the summer.... it is offered online :)

adb, you're welcome! :) Idk if it is the same in all locations, but I totally LOVED the small class: 7 for EMT and 1 for nursing.

Yeah, what Red said! :) The more you take during the summer, the less of a workload/stress you'll have during the nursing program. I feel guilty every time I have a soft drink because of nutrition. :thankya: lol

Does anybody know about fridays?

Raeann,I would take it during the summer as well. Did you say you're gonna be working

Specializes in ER / Critical Care.

Kryssal, Fridays aren't on the schedule.... So I'm hoping we are "off" considering its only an 8 credit semester, I'm gonna assume that it's only a 4 day week :)

Adb yes I'll be working but, I do hair so I make my own schedule. I will just work when I can. And I'll probably take nutrition this summer, hopefully I can still get a spot. Thanks for the info. Also, i have heard we r off Fridays.

Also y'all were talking about scubs, there is a big scrub shop at parkland and got mine there.

Hello everyone! I've been on allnurses.com since I decided that I was going to apply to nursing school and I've spent the last 30 minutes reading through this particular post (all 27 pages!) It was as if I was reading a mystery novel hoping that you would all get accepted. By the way, congratulations!

I applied like all of you for this Fall 2012 class, which I had worked so hard for over the past couple of years maintaining a 3.8GPA, I've finished all of my core classes and all that I have left are nursing, with a child and husband to take care of. Sadly, I was put on the active alternate list. I was heart broken when I got the e-mail after hearing from my A&P girlfriends that they had been accepted. We were all sure we would get in and even planned to carpool to Corsicana/Waxahachie in the Fall (we attend the Mexia campus.)

Anyway, onto my actual reason for commenting (other than to say hello and congratulations) I called last Friday on the 15th just to ask if I would have to go through the whole process all over again when applying next time. While she (the older one) was talking to me she asked me my name so that she could look up my file. She then said she couldn't find it (I was in full panic mode now) and placed me on hold. When she came back she said the most amazing words "How would you like to be IN the program this Fall? We have 8 spots open and you're 3rd on the list." I nearly passed out from my excitement and said "ABSOLUTELY!" I'm awaiting the e-mail, which she said would be coming in the next few days. So, it still hasn't sunk in and will not be official until I receive it but I am beyond excited. She said the only way it wouldn't work out is if something very unfortunate were to happen to one of the instructors, which is not very likely. Now, I'm playing the waiting game AGAIN and have been furiously checking my e-mail hoping that it will be there.

I am keeping my hopes up since I asked her over and over again if she was sure I was in. She also told me to wait to do CPR because they may have someone at the school that will do it for free. So, maybe we will all run into each other at the orientation in August. Congratulations again everyone!

Hi mrskennedy!!!! :) Congrats to you as well!!!!!! :D Getting into nursing school is one of the best moments of our lives, and the journey is just only beginning! :)

If you need any help with anything, just let us know (I check the site many times a day for updates). When you get that acceptance email, there are 14 attachments (9 documents, 3 pdf's, 1 excel, and the "Congrats" flashy picture .gif). The books are definitely cheaper on Amazon and they arrive really quickly. Also, if you need any shots there's a few options out there that are free (Baylor is one of them). You might contact one of the nurses in charge of the program (can't use names) to set up the drug screen payment thing (it is online and temporary, so they have to bring it up again if it's not still there).

Again, congrats!!!!!! :) I hope we all meet at orientation!:D
