I am applying for the accelerated nursing this Jan 2010 for the start in MAY 2010. Is there anyone else out there applying this go round? I would appreciate any info from former graduates or nursing students on advice and their experience. I think that I have a good chance of getting in. PLEASE POST!!!!!!:redpinkhe

Lizette, Where do you live now?

Well shots are required by all schools, so I'm pretty ready to get them. :-)

So with 95 being the top score, does that mean anyone who got below shouldn't hope to get accepted anymore?

dkittle: I'm currently in San Francisco. Where are you from?

Oh no, about the HESI. It just means that those that score 95 and above will get a lot of cumulative points. I'm sure your score will get a lot of points too. Me on the other hand not so many. Like I said in other posts my points will be in the other areas. I'm originally from Georgia, but I have lived in Yuma, AZ for about 7 years too long. I hate it here :( I wish I did not, but I do. We are here for my husbands job and he will be changing after I finish the nursing thing. Living in Flagstaff over the summer will be a nice change of scenery. I love the terrain and climate up there is so much better.

I'm a total Californian, but I do love Arizona. My husband and I got married there last year (in Sedona) and we're hoping to spend time there--- so hopefully NAU will be the place for me. Are you applying anywhere else?

No, I did not apply anywhere else. If no success, I will try again once more. I will wait until my husband and I move before doing so because we don't know exactly where we might be.

Ahhh Sedona...very beautiful. I had a friend get married there last spring. It was such a beautiful and perfect setting. I married 2 yrs ago. It was a complete coincidence that we decided to get married in Hawaii. We had already planned on taking a Hawaiian cruise and I had two months to plan the wedding. It was awesome, but if I had I known about Sedona and we did not already have plans for the cruise, that would be my choice, too.

Did you apply to other places? I would ave also applied to University of Central Florida (Orlando) or Valdosta State University (Georgia) if I knew I could be away from my husband and dogs for that long. I had a rude awakening two summers ago when I went to the University of Arizona for an internship and cried my first night!!! I used to be Miss Independent, not anymore to my surprise. It will be better to be just a short trip where I can drive home or hop on a plane from Flagstaff. I am sure you will get picked for anywhere you apply bc it seems that your scores are high. Will NAU be your first choice? I'm not sure if you two (soccer girl:) know that this class may be the first one to do the program in 12 months rather than 18. They are deciding next month and think it will go through. That will be awesome! An BSN in 1 year.

Hey Soccer girl read the message I sent and get back w/ me please!!! I hope you got it if not let me know. I may have sent it wrong.

wow I haven't looked at this site all week (i have been studying for a biochem exam) and it looks like I missed a lot! dkittle I didnt get a message :( I wonder what happened to it. I didn't apply anywhere else because my boyfriend is applying for the physical therapy school at NAU and we want to be in the same place. Is that true about the program changing to 12 months? oh my gosh that would be amazing. I would love to start my career asap and not have to pay for the eighteen months! my advisor has not emailed me back yet but I have started to look into scholarships. does anyone have any info on those. I'm still in college so I am broke and dont want to put myself into any more debt than necessary.

wait I just got it dkittle! I wrote you back!

just saw this reply in my email and 12 months?!? when did this happen, thats amazing as that 18 months was one of the cons on my mental list of things about NAU. I know its only early february but everyday I check the mail with fear and excitement.

Even if they do decide to turn it into a 12 month program, the cost would be exactly the same. It would be the same number of credits and classes, so the tuition and fees would all be the same. It's just that they would condense it all into a shorter time frame. They have said that it will be impossible to work if they go to a 12 month propgram because it would essentially be like putting in a 40 hour or more week just for school.

Hi Everyone... I inquired today about the current applications stats and I found out that there were 60 applicants and they will be accepting 30. I'm definitely scared 'cause I'm not sure if I'm gonna be one of the top 30 or bottom 30. Sigh...

They plan on sending out offers/rejections in the first part of next month. Good luck to all of us!

yelnikncwawa I was wondering if you could help me with some questions..

I am out of state and was wondering how much tuition was for the accelerated program per semester, if you know, I dont know if you are in state or out. Also I was looking at the hrsa scholarship. Have you heard of it? It looks like I might be too late to apply for it because it says the next application cycles recipients will be notified in the fall which is already 2 semesters into the NAU program. I am desperately trying to figure out how I am going to pay for this so any info you have would be greatly appreciated.
