I am applying for the accelerated nursing this Jan 2010 for the start in MAY 2010. Is there anyone else out there applying this go round? I would appreciate any info from former graduates or nursing students on advice and their experience. I think that I have a good chance of getting in. PLEASE POST!!!!!!:redpinkhe
Ah, I'm glad this thread got re-started! I'm also applying in January for the May 2011 start date for NAU, and I've been curious as to what you folks have to say 8 months later...I'm in MT finishing up various prerequisites now, and really what attracted me to NAU was the fact I could still apply while finishing required courses, the price, the location, and the 12 month length. I'd love to hear what current students think of the shortened time, and what things they like/don't like about the program. Everyone I've contacted at NAU seem to be very helpful! Also, I'm taking the HESI test Dec 21 and I have a few study guides, but I would LOVE to hear firsthand what it's actually like...
Hey there chirorach! I, for one, am very content with the program. As I'm sure you're expecting, there is a lot of traveling and a good deal of studying. I like the traveling. You really get to see a lot of different situations and get to know your classmates very well. It could use some work in the organization department, but all of the professors are very caring and helpful. No major surprises thus far. We still have half the year left. so that could still happen. Good luck applying, I'm sure you'll have no problems.

The entrance HESI is not bad. Just remember all your pint, quart, gallon conversion stuff! I hadn't looked at that in a long time, but mostly it's just basic math and vocab. You'll do great. Like I said before, the 12 months is a little disorganized so far, but I'm pretty happy with the program. The teachers are great and I think it's a good program overall. Definitely, you get out of it what you put in!

Hi Rachel, good luck with your endeavours! I am assuming that since you are a chiropractor, you are entering the nursing field to become an NP rather than an RN. So yeah, U of A's MEPN would be a much quicker route to that goal! Do 15 months in that program and then do a Post-Master's NP certificate at any number of schools around the nation! I am finishing up NAU's Accelerated program...was in the last cohort of the 18 month long program before it was shortened to 12. I don't have wonderful views of this program, but not horrible ones either. I also think that school is what you make of it and they are ultimately granting me a degree, which is all I really wanted anyway! Best of luck!
