NAU Accelerated BSN 2014

U.S.A. Arizona

Now that the applications have been submitted and the deadline has passed, the wait begins. :( As I understand it, NAU accepts 30 students based on only two criteria: Pre-requisite GPA and Kaplan Nursing Entrance Exam. After taking my Kaplan, I asked one of the proctors if she knew the average score on the Kaplan. She said she wasn't sure of the average, but saw a student score a 96%. That's when I started to get nervous... and now I'm curious, how did you all do??

I applied with a Pre-req GPA of 4.0 and a Kaplan score of 87%. *Hoping that gets me in!!*

Did any alternates receive a call from NAU yet?

Heyoooooo, so I am the #3 alternate on the wait list and have been doing a great job of harassing the advisors for new news. I called on Friday (the deadline to accept or decline) and ------------- said the would possibly be making calls Monday or Tuesday. As I am extremely impatient I decided to give another call Monday evening to find out that the office was "slammed" and hasn't got around to sorting through all the letters so would most likely not be makin calls to the alternates until later this week.... So the wait continues.... AGAIN! Bah humbug

I'm also an alternate that's patiently waiting for the call. I confirm what McCraigo has shared. Spoke with ---------------- yesterday and he said they still need to follow up directly with accepted applicants that did not have contracts in place by the 7th, in case they did not receive their admission letter. So the waiting continues. . .

Also curious about Flagstaff, as I've never been there. Based on some craigslist searching, housing looks pretty affordable compared to CA. How are the neighborhoods near NAU? Mostly college houses or plenty of family homes? Safe? (Considering this is an accelerated program, would be nice to live in a quieter neighborhood.)

I guess they have been sick in the office and Won't be contacting people until "sometime next week" (spring break). I don't understand why it's been taking so long since they had a contract deadline as of last Friday the 7th but who knows. Happy waiting people.

Flagstaff is beautiful. Housing can be pricey. There are several neighborhoods near campus, and the NAU bus is available. If you have transportation, you have tons of options.

Apartments and homes near campus are predominantly college houses and roommate situations. I wouldn't live on the east side of town (near 4th street). While the housing is much more affordable, it's not very safe and the Purina plant is on the side of town and it gets pretty stinky. The area around Country Club isn't too bad as far as safety goes though. Closer to campus, the University Heights (Beulah and Lake Mary Rd) area is safer and more family friendly!

Alternate #3 and I got an email saying I was in

Congrats! When was the email sent to you? Do you think all the alternates will receive the email at the same time?

I'm now #1 on the alternate list!!! :D

I was told by an adviser that I'll receive a call when there's a seat. If I don't pick-up, they said they'd leave a voicemail.

Last I checked they've already offered seats to the first 6 wait-listed applicants. So now the applicant wait listed #7 is on deck for a seat once one opens (that's me!).

Wow, thanks! This is the advice I was hoping to receive. Definitely seeking a safe and nearby neighborhood so I'll check out University Heights at Beulah/Lake Mary Rd if offered a seat.

I'm #1 as of yesterday, so you must have been offered a seat. Congrats!
