NAU Accelerated BSN 2014

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Now that the applications have been submitted and the deadline has passed, the wait begins. :( As I understand it, NAU accepts 30 students based on only two criteria: Pre-requisite GPA and Kaplan Nursing Entrance Exam. After taking my Kaplan, I asked one of the proctors if she knew the average score on the Kaplan. She said she wasn't sure of the average, but saw a student score a 96%. That's when I started to get nervous... and now I'm curious, how did you all do??

I applied with a Pre-req GPA of 4.0 and a Kaplan score of 87%. *Hoping that gets me in!!*

Where did you find the syllabus? Would you be interested in sharing :)

Thanks to some digging by the book store, I found a list for the bundle:

http://www.bkstr.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CourseMaterialsResultsView?catalogId=10001&categoryId=9604&storeId=15828&langId=-1&programId=1626&termId=100032103&divisionDisplayName=%20&departmentDisplayName=NUR&courseDisplayName=330&sectionDisplayName=120011&demoKey=null&purpose=browse

Let me know if that link doesn't work. I'll give thorough instructions on how to reach the page with the bundle books listed. It turns out more than just NUR 330 books are included in this bundle, and per the 330 professor the bundle includes books for the other summer semester courses. It doesn't include ALL the books however, as there are additional required texts for 330 ("Nursing as caring..." and "Publications manual...").

So I'm going to figure out if the bundle including books from the other summer courses amounts to savings compared to buying them individually. Plus it looks like there are two online access codes included, which availability may be limited.

Thanks for that link. Any idea if the bundle was worth it or were you able to buy separately to save a little money?

rorobynbyn you can access course syllabi at Course Packs

I ended up buying some scrubs online (amazon). I don't think it matters where you buy them… just as long as they're navy blue. Good question about embroidery. If you call the nursing department they can point in the right direction. I still need to get that done :) See everyone Monday!

I bought scrubs from www.uniformadvantage.com. Search http://www.retailmenot.com for current list of discount codes to potentially save a few bucks.

You can get your scrubs embroidered at Flag Tee Factory (see below) for $8/shirt.

Re: Parking -

I bit the bullet and bought a summer parking pass for $130 which is valid from May 15-Aug 15. Not cheap, but at about $40/month, I was willing to do it to make life easier. You can purchase here: https://nau.t2hosted.com/cmn/index.aspx

Robyn - I ended up buying books individually on Amazon and saved some $$. I bought used books whenever possible. The only issue may be shipping and how long it takes to receive them. Some took over a week to arrive.

Looking forward to meeting everyone!
