NAU Accelerated BSN 2014

Published

Now that the applications have been submitted and the deadline has passed, the wait begins. :( As I understand it, NAU accepts 30 students based on only two criteria: Pre-requisite GPA and Kaplan Nursing Entrance Exam. After taking my Kaplan, I asked one of the proctors if she knew the average score on the Kaplan. She said she wasn't sure of the average, but saw a student score a 96%. That's when I started to get nervous... and now I'm curious, how did you all do??

I applied with a Pre-req GPA of 4.0 and a Kaplan score of 87%. *Hoping that gets me in!!*

I'm in the traditional program, but everything I've read, 96% is VERY high. Also, based only on what I've read (mainly here), 87% is a very competitive score. Good luck!!

I applied to the ABSN Summer 2014 program with a 3.8 GPA and 88% Kaplan score, one prerequisite course still in progress. I am hoping that's good enough! When I asked an adviser what GPA/scores would be competitive, I was told to have a GPA above 3.6-3.7 and Kaplan score in the mid- to high-80s. Your GPA/score looks great to me and you should feel confident.

Good luck to you and all else who applied!

Thanks for the vote of confidence. It sounds like some students (as of 1/29/14) have already been accepted into the program. I haven't heard anything yet, but I'm hoping for the best. I'll let ya'll know if I hear back from them soon. Good luck everyone!

Hello All,

Im applying to NAU for the Fall and I wanted to know what yall used to study for the Kaplan exam?

Your scores are very impressive I feel that I dont even have a chance. I also applied to the ABSN Summer 2014 program with a GPA of a 3.64 and a Kaplan score of 82% :(

I spoke with someone in the nursing department today who said that they're not done going through applications yet. They should have reached a decision by the last week of the month! My GPA is 3.6 something and I got a 90% on the Kaplan exam! I do have one course still pending, but my current grade is 94%. Fingers crossed!

I used the Kaplan study guide (Nursing School Entrance Exams (Kaplan Nursing School Entrance Exam): Kaplan: 9781609786724: Amazon.com: Books). I only studied for the exam for about 2 weeks (really only a total of 20 hours or so). I found that the practice tests in the study guide were much more difficult than the actual exam, but it was a great help to get mentally prepared! I ended up getting a 90% on the exam!

Hi All, I am currently in the NAU ABSN program. I'll answer any questions you might have. Someone answered questions for us last year, so I thought I'd pay it forward.

Thank you dsb_fam it is very kind of you to answer our questions. On average, how many days a week are classes held at the Flagstaff campus? How many hours a week are you at a clinical site? How often do you or other students have to drive to clinical sites that are over 1 hour away from the Flagstaff campus? If students have to drive greater than 2 hours to a clinical site, are they often heading towards Phoenix?

BlueSkies08, did you get accepted into nursing school for the summer of 2014? If so when did you get your letter in mail? I am just curious because I haven't got anything in the mail from NAU; I haven't received a rejection letter or an acceptance letter.

Apples2. I have not received an acceptance or a rejection yet. I’m not sure if anyone has heard anything yet. Application packet indicated that applicants will be notified 6-8 weeks after the January 15th deadline. It has only been 5 weeks since January 15th. The wait and anticipation has been difficult to endure.
