NAU Accelerated BSN 2014

U.S.A. Arizona

Now that the applications have been submitted and the deadline has passed, the wait begins. :( As I understand it, NAU accepts 30 students based on only two criteria: Pre-requisite GPA and Kaplan Nursing Entrance Exam. After taking my Kaplan, I asked one of the proctors if she knew the average score on the Kaplan. She said she wasn't sure of the average, but saw a student score a 96%. That's when I started to get nervous... and now I'm curious, how did you all do??

I applied with a Pre-req GPA of 4.0 and a Kaplan score of 87%. *Hoping that gets me in!!*

Apples2. I have not received an acceptance or a rejection yet. I’m not sure if anyone has heard anything yet. Application packet indicated that applicants will be notified 6-8 weeks after the January 15th deadline. It has only been 5 weeks since January 15th. The wait and anticipation has been difficult to endure.

Yes it has. Thank you for getting back to me. I know that we will be notified 6-8 weeks after the application deadline. However someone posted that some applicants have already found out so I was just wondering if you had.

You should all find out at the same time. Several instructors said they were going through applications this week, so I'd be surprised if someone had heard anything.

As far as your question BlueSkies08, it all depends on the semester. The summer semester was pretty intense schedule-wise, but we didn't leave the Flagstaff area. During Fall, clinicals were twice a week. Some students were placed out of town, but most were given options at Flagstaff Medical Center. This semester has been crazy, but most of it is workload. The clinical portion is very doable. I live an hour away and have commuted to school this year. It's not easy, but manageable.

The clinical sites are not heading towards Phoenix, but the opposite direction. We are talking Window Rock and outlying areas.

I hope all of you get in, I have truly enjoyed my cohorts. I have made lifelong friends and Flagstaff is a beautiful town with lots to offer. Good luck and I'll check back for anymore questions you might have.

Hello all,

Previously I had posted that a student (on another post) stated that they had received their acceptance into the 2014 summer nursing program. That was incorrect. An advisor at NAU clarified that the student had most likely mis-interpreted their acceptance to the "school" as their acceptance to the "program." After getting a related letter from the undergraduate office of NAU, I could see how that could be confusing.

The advisor stated the same 6-8 week period as mentioned by others. So... hopefully good news comes soon!!

Hi there everyone,

I, like you all have been nervously waiting a reply from NAU. I got my letter today, so if you haven't checked your mail yet, get moving! Unfortunately, I am #3 on the alternate list and therefore the wait game begins. Don't want to be an ass, but damn I hope 3 people drop out! Anyways, best luck to you all and hopefully i will be joining you in Summer of 2014

So basically if we haven't gotten a letter by now we didnt get in?

What was your GPA and how well did you score on the Kaplan exam if you dont mind me asking. Congratulations on being on the alternate list. It is better than getting a flat out rejection.

I got my letter today as well. I live in the Phoenix area, so if you're farther away, give it another couple days before worrying too much! I'm #6 on the alternate list. So, the waiting continues... (90% on the Kaplan exam, PSY 240 in progress)

I live in Scottsdale so its not too far. You did so much better on the Kaplan exam than me. What was your GPA

Hey Everyone,

I am excited to say that I too received a letter today in the mail! I'm in! I had spoken with an advisor yesterday who informed me that letters went in the mail on monday. Depending on where you live, I assume you should here back either today or tomorrow?

I'm looking forward to a very fast year at NAU! Go Lumberjacks?

Overall GPA was 3.52 and 3.42 on the Prereqs (but once my PSY240 class is over it'll be 3.48). The online General Pathology class ruined it :(

Does anyone know how many alternate spots there are and how many alternates end up in the program? I found out that I was an alternate this morning.

I tried calling to find out, but just got a voicemail. What number are you?
