NAU Accelerated BSN 2014

U.S.A. Arizona

Now that the applications have been submitted and the deadline has passed, the wait begins. :( As I understand it, NAU accepts 30 students based on only two criteria: Pre-requisite GPA and Kaplan Nursing Entrance Exam. After taking my Kaplan, I asked one of the proctors if she knew the average score on the Kaplan. She said she wasn't sure of the average, but saw a student score a 96%. That's when I started to get nervous... and now I'm curious, how did you all do??

I applied with a Pre-req GPA of 4.0 and a Kaplan score of 87%. *Hoping that gets me in!!*

I tried calling to find out, but just got a voicemail. What number are you?

Oh. I am number 9. I don't know if I should think that I have a chance making it into the summer program or not. Are you an alternate too?

Number 6! I was reading the thread from last year, and I believe the 5th alternate got in. I've got my fingers crossed!

Hi everyone, I spoke with one of the advisors who told me that they have a list of 14 alternates this year. Historically in the last 2 cycles they went up to spots 12 and 14, which is positive news. I'm in the top 5 of the alternate list. We should still go ahead and get our paperwork done so when that call comes we'll be good to go. Good luck!

How did you do on the Kaplan exam and congrats on being number 6!

Hello all! I just got my acceptance letter today... Excited to meet everyone and start this thing!!

Hey all! Just wanted to give you all encouragement. If you are on the Alternate list, be prepared. I believe they went pretty far into the alternate list. I was #5 and got in right away. Just a few pieces of advice. Don't purchase all your books until you get into class. I was very frustrated buying books I didn't need for class. Also, buy a blue pair of scrubs you like and that fit well and have them embroidered. The ones at the bookstore are horribly overpriced and don't fit well. The school will have the contact information for a local business that does embroidery cheap. Also, you may want two sets of scrubs. I did not want to do a long shift at the hospital and then come home to wash and dry my scrubs for the next day. You are already exhausted. Good luck!

Hi Everyone! Like dsb_fam, I'm in the current cohort. I got a lot of information off here last year, so I thought I would get on and offer up anything I can to all of you preparing to start. That said, I know there are many of us in the current class who would love to sell our scrubs to you! Already embroidered and ready to go. If you're interested or if you have any other questions, please feel free to email me: [email protected]. I'm happy to answer any questions. Good luck everyone!

Hi All, I am currently in the NAU ABSN program. I'll answer any questions you might have. Someone answered questions for us last year, so I thought I'd pay it forward.

Hi there! Thanks for offering to help! I am deciding between two schools and would like to ask you some more questions. Would you mind either sending me your email?.... Not sure how the messaging works... Or email me at [email protected]. thanks so much! I only have two days to decide....... Eeek!

Hey there roro, let me start off by saying flagstaff is the worst city in the US. Full of dirty hippies and bums. The program takes too long and the mountain air sucks! Don't do it!!!! With that being said I am a Flagstaff local and #3 on the wait list hoping to get in. Would appreciate one less person getting in haha :p good luck choosin and hopefully I sneak in with or without you :p

I'm sure that many of you will get in off the wait list. I think someone in our program was #14. Be patient and learn to be good at being patient, you'll need for your year in nursing school at NAU.

I have been accepted into the program and am now trying to figure out housing :/ Does anyone have housing secured yet or have any suggestions on where to live?

If anyone wants to be invited to the current cohort's Facebook group page to get connected with scrubs, books, housing, send me a message [email protected].
