Now that the applications have been submitted and the deadline has passed, the wait begins. As I understand it, NAU accepts 30 students based on only two criteria: Pre-requisite GPA and Kaplan Nursing Entrance Exam. After taking my Kaplan, I asked one of the proctors if she knew the average score on the Kaplan. She said she wasn't sure of the average, but saw a student score a 96%. That's when I started to get nervous... and now I'm curious, how did you all do??
I applied with a Pre-req GPA of 4.0 and a Kaplan score of 87%. *Hoping that gets me in!!*
For those looking at housing... I've been in Mountainaire for 3 years now and couldn't be happier! It would be awesome to have some classmates near by for frequent study sessions. From Mountainaire it takes me 10 minutes to get to south campus. Give or take 20 minutes from the time I leave the front door to taking a seat in class :)
Hi everyone, yes I have 5 kids and have 1 week left! You can do this!!! I also drove from an hour away, so this is a manageable program. The scrubs need to be a dark navy blue, but they will not nitpick you. Also, as far as books, I would wait to purchase books until the first day. I bought a lot of books that I never used. WAIT!!!! Lastly, buy a good calendar with lots of space. I bought the Uncalendar and it was vital to organization. Write down every due date and and start getting stuff done as soon as it's assigned. The second part of summer was INSANE! I was truly questioning my sanity...but you will make it. It's not so much difficult work, but just tons of assignments. You have to stay on top of stuff!!!! Sit down now with your family and get them to pitch in for the year. It needs to be ALL of you getting through nursing school. Every test grade I received, I shared with my kids. They were all part of the process and will be part of my graduation as well. I also tried to study outside my house. If I was home, my kids needed me or I felt overwhelmed with the mess and laundry. Good luck everyone!
Heads up on the name badge. I got the pin not the magnet-- partially because there was like a $2 difference. The pin is awful and comes apart ALL the time and my badge falls off. I'm lucky I haven't completely lost the badge yet. So I. Would recommend coughing up the extra $2 for a magnet!
hi! i'll be visiting flaggstaff this weekend to check places -- email me at [email protected] if it possibile to see a place
thanks ky53
Hello! Orientation is soon!... excited to meet everyone. Quick question regarding scrubs: are there other options besides the bookstore for scrubs? also I remember someone mentioned in another thread that we could get them embroidered inexpensively somewhere in town. Does anyone know where?

Hi dsb_fam! Is the school particular about what color blue our scrubs are? Would just about any navy blue do the job? Also, I read last years thread and I remember someone mentioning they had 5 or 6 kids... was that you? If so, do you have any advise from parent to parent?
