National University BSN April 2014 Cohort

Published

Hi everyone!

I just recently applied to nursing cohort 38 starting next April in San Diego. I'm currently waiting for my teas and essay date. I'm so anxious to find out if I've been accepted or not but I've been told we probably won't find out until January or February! Is there anyone who is in the same boat as me? Hope to receive some replies on here! :)

Seems like everyone here is in pretty good standing!! I really hope we all make it! Our proctor during the test told us that the amount of people who applied for this cohort was smaller than usual so that kind of made me feel better about my chances. Usually there are 250-300 but I heard this cohort was around 160-170. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!!

miss.mj, we won't find out our essay score until after we find out if we've been accepted or not.

I am so glad to see that others are i the same boat as I am! I also applied to National University for the April 2014 cohort and now it is the hurry up and wait game.

I am crossing fingers for all of us!

Welcome to the thread tiffanyryan! :)

Hello everyone I have also applied to the April 2014 cohort.

I have a 3.75 gpa, all 21 attempt points, and a 80.7% on the teas. Just waiting on the essay score ... Hopefully between 3-4 out of the 5.

Right now I'm at 72.335 without the essay. And 84.335, 88.335 with the respective essay scores ... If I get those.

Also I have heard some people are able to see if they got accepted on their student portal. Is this true because I see nothing of that nature.

How did everyone else do? If they don't mind sharing, that is.

Hi Dustin!!!

Sounds like you'll have a great shot! You know in the portal where the nursing application is and it says "submitted?" I heard that this status changes... I have no idea though. I'm at 71 without the essay. I'm nervous!!! I wish we could find out sooner. Everyone needs to update as the "Accepted's" come in.

miss.mj, I also have 71 points prior to the essay! :) I met a friend in class who gave me the breakdown of scores for the recent cohort starting in January. The average amount of points for those who were guaranteed acceptance was 86 points and alternatives had around 82-83 points. Looking at everyone's scores here, it seems like we all have a shot of making it! I'm anxious to find out the results!!! We're all in this together :) Just remember, we WILL get into the nursing program! It's just not guaranteed when..It may be this April (God willing) or July or October. But no matter what happens, just keep pushing forward and stay positive! :):nurse:

Fingers crossed everyone!!!

[COLOR=#003366]SDCaligirl Thanks for setting up this thread. You're right about how everyone here is in really good shape. There's a really good chance that we will all meet at the orientation. Christmas and New Year's will make the next month fly by fast and we shall all find out soon. This is looking like it's going be a really fun and smart cohort so far, might be the best one yet. :)

Hello everyone! Last night I was searching around all of my info to see when admissions decisions were supposed to go out and found nothing. :) I am guessing Jan or Feb, right? And then I realized I have no idea how those decisions will be sent - email, alert on your SOAR portal, etc… I feel like I have gotten several SOAR alert notifications this month and each time my heart jumps, and then I realize that it is just some silly alert that has nothing to do with my acceptance… Boo.

Is anyone working in health care now or doing anything else to prepare before starting nursing school? Best of luck to all of you!

Hi Nelise! I've read that admissions are supposed to be the 2nd week of January, but from reading previous cohorts, it should be mid February. I know it gets updated in SOAR and I'm sure you'll get an email. I still check SOAR everyday to see if there's any status update. Good luck!

Hey Everyone,

I am in the same boat as everyone here. I don't get anxiety about many things but this is seriously getting to me!! kind of nice to know im not the only one whose heart jumps out of their chest when their email goes off . I'm hoping we at least hear before the 16th because I'd like to apply for the next cohort. I guess we'll ALL see how it works out :smug: Good Luck to everyone :nurse::up:

I had a question, if anyone knows the answer or somewhat, regarding the deferment policy for the nursing program. I know we can defer for up to a year or less. So, if we defer for a later cohort, lets say October 2014, is it a guarantee that you would be in the cohort or still competing for the applicant pool for so said cohort ?

Im thinking of possibly deferring because I applied to sdsu, csusm, csulb, and csuf and want to see if I get into any of those as my cal vet would completely cover my tuition till I'm 26. As well as thinking of getting a Cna position and save up money if I do decide to defer for nationals program.

I heard that that we can find the deferment policy on the nu.edu site but can't find it. Any help would be much appreciated.
