Has anyone Interviewed for NSCC ADN program? please share

Jellybean01- thanks for the information. That is a relief! I can't wait to meet all of you! I have tons of questions to ask during the intro meeting. Lol!

M2004rc-sorry to hear that! Don't ever give up and good luck! I got into Aquinas after being on the waiting list. With your GPA you should get into Aquinas if you do good on the hesi I made an 88 on my hesi exam and I think that's why I was put on the waiting list but was then accepted. I know 3 other people that were on the waiting list and got in also. Just make sure you are prepared for the hesi exam because you only have that one chance to take it, but I'm sure you will do fine. I bought an online study guide that was very helpful and it had practice test with it (evolve.elsevier.com). I still haven't decided where I'm going but I will within this week. Good luck and I wish you the best.

I am very excited to meet everyone. I know we will make friends and memories that last a lifetime, and I look forward to that!

I don't know the Nashville Campus all that well. I attended the one in Waverly for my prereqs. I hope I can learn everything quickly. :uhoh3:

Jellybean01: Thanks for the Pell Grant info! I've been so stressed out about this lately and I feel much better now!

I finally received a letter today. It says they placed me on a waiting list so I'm just going to assume that I will not be starting the program this year.

kay2010: You will like the NSCC main campus, it is nice and not too big. They new A bldg is pretty nice, and it was in major need b/c they were running out of room for classes.

You'll be fine, in the long run. No matter which school we attend, the only thing that matters is if you pass your NCLEX... Whether it's Nash St, TSU, MTSU, Aquinas, Belmont, Vandy, etc -- we all take the same boards. Every RN I know says that it matter if you pass your NCLEX or not...

That's what I have been hearing too. I work for a Chiropractor and we have several patients that are RN's and I have been asking about the importance of graduating from an accredited school. They have been telling me that it doesn't really matter what school you graduate from but whether or not you pass your boards. That makes me feel a little better, but I still haven't decided whether Aquinas or NSCC is the school for me. What if I want to further my education and get my BSN, would they accept me if I didn't get my ASN from an accredited school. Although, I would hate to graduate with a huge school debt. Plus, I really like NSCC and their professors are great!

Who's not accredited? I know that TSU is...

I have heard that it is definitely important to graduate from an accredited school.

Nashville State Community College is in the process of their accreditation. The program is still new and a specific % the graduating class need to pass their boards as part of the accreditation process.

Caligirl08- are you sure? On the NLNAC website it shows all the nursing programs who have applied for Candidacy and Nashville state is not on there (http://www.nlnac.org/Forms/candidacy.asp). In order for a program to be accredited they must first apply for candidacy and then go through the process of being approved for accreditation. I contacted NLNAC for more information about a week ago, and I was informed that the first class of the program must successfully pass the boards in order to apply for candidacy, then the school has to go through the steps of becoming accredited, and applying for candidacy doesn't mean the school will become accredited. She also said if you graduate before the school is accredited, then it will not apply to you, it only applies to the students who are in the program during the time the program is accredited and the ones that start after. I really hope they are accredited within the next 2 years so I can graduate from an accredited program.

And here's the link for the schools that are up for Initial accreditation in the fall (http://www.nlnac.org/About%20NLNAC/fall_11_accred__schedule.htm) and nashville state is not on here either. During my interview, the two teachers that interviewed me said that the program will be accredited by the end of the fall semester but that's not true and not possible. They should really be open to their students about the process and not telling students what they want to hear.

Just a reminder to R.S.V.P for our introductory meeting by June 10th. I reread the letter today, and apparently missed that part the first time :o See ya'll on the 15th!:yeah:
