Hello everyone,
are part-time NP positions available? Are they harder to find?
IF so, where do you work and is the pay the same?
Thanks

I work several jobs and the pay is higher than my main job because I don't get benefits. I'm in psych so it might be different than primary care but I work one shift a week in a pediatrician's office doing medication checks as well as a weekend prn position at a local hospital.

There are several part time jobs I have noticed. One doing Locum shift where you work 12-16 weeks at a time and you can fix your schedule. I have seen part time ED (I think that pays the most) and urgent care. In all my search, I have not seen part time primary care yet . It may just be the city I'm searching in.

There are part time NPs in Alaska, they often visit villages and work in Native Health situations... or sometimes with the military here.

I know a PMHNP/FNP who only uses the FNP cert on the weekends doing some kind of Medicare exams. She goes to the insured's homes, conducts the eval, and said she makes as much on a Saturday doing that as she does all week in outpatient psych. Of course, she either may not make much in psych, OR she really does make a ton doing the Medicare thing.
I don't want to do any extra work outside of doing a few extra hours to make more on productivity (about 25k more/yr.), but I think if I were going to do something part-time, just for the sake of doing something part-time, I'd like to be a part-time policeman.
hMMM thanks everyone for the comments…i really do wonder if there are lots of positions even available I have heard ER is a great place to work part time although as an FNP can u work in the hospital setting? ???

You can but that is shifting over to the realm of ACNP. More and more job postings require it.

I have worked part-time in family practice for years. It was weird, once I let it be known via networking that I only wanted part-time, I had THREE offers as a new FNP. Those jobs are out there for sure. I also have been working 12 hours per week doing Medicare wellness exams and absolutely love it...great people, great $$, great flexibility, etc. I get postcards weekly from different staffing agencies looking for part-time NPs..bariatric clinics, etc.
The jobs are definitely out there.

What company do you guys do the Medicare home visits thru? Found one recently but you had to withhold your own taxes... 1099?? Like an independent contractor? No thx!
UHG is the main one and they do not do the whole independent contractor thing. They have per diem (12 hrs per week) and salaried positions.

How do you get a job like that right out of FNP school?
