Name hospital and salary--everywhere

Nurses General Nursing

Hi, everyone seemed to be enjoying the name your hospital and salary thread from NY and I noticed others would like to participate and know about other states. So everyone join in. Name your hospital, starting rate, and how much experience you have and your specialty. :Melody:

California Corrections: $42 an hour, about $63 with OT statewide whether you are a new grad or veteran nurse. The pay is higher in the Bay Area. Night differentials are negligible but the benefits are great including pension.

ShelleK,

Az is a compact state. That means that if you have a license in Arizona you can go practice nursing in any of the other 17 states that participate in the mulit-state nursing compact. However because you have a NY license and they dont participate, you would have to apply for a AZ license by endorsement first. They were wrong to tell you you didnt need an AZ license.. maybe they thought NY was a compact state.. hmm cant answer to what someone else might have been thinking..lol. You never have to retake the boards again. Once you have passed NCLEX you are a nurse! it just depends on where you want to go to practice nursing. Of the states that are not a part of the compact you can just apply for a license in those states by endorsement. Each state has a board of nursing. Just check with that state and find out what their requirements are.

Northern california,

I am a New Grad RN; Hospital $33.00

$33 in NorCa? Isn't that low for the area? I have heard that new grads are starting closer to 40.

Also--does anyone know if there is any truth to Kaiser beginning to pay the same rate to nurses for all of their Northern California hospitals

I know it depends on where you live but does anyone know how much they take out a year for taxes. like a rough estimate? so lets say someone is making 62K(lets say in new york, philadelphia california etc) and they decided not to do overtime etc. how much would they be likely to bring home a year after tax?

What about annual pay for areas that arent in major cities? Do they take out more or less tax from annual pay?

How does it work?

thanks

It all depends on your deductions. I am a new grad in Boston and my base is $60,000 and I bring home $49,000. This is after taxes (3 deductions), dental ($100 per month), and parking (parking alone is $100 per month). If you are single with no deductions expect dear old uncle sam to take his (un)fair share of taxes out.

I work in a state psychiatric hospital in Louisville, KY. I have been working here for a year, and came on board with three years experience as an RN. I started out making 21.45 an hour.

Most hospitals around my area, Med/Surge hospitals, are starting folks out at about 20.50. The state psych hospitals, for some reason, pay a bit more.

Wow, nice shift diff!!! Shift diff around here for 3-11 shift is typically 2-3 dollars an hour.
