My 2 year old is orange

Published

Greetings everyone,

I am concerned about my daughter and was wondering if anyone had any ideas about what is going on. This is my first thread, and my family doctor is out of town till Friday. I am a RPN but when it comes to my children I can only think as a mom. The only signs and symptoms she has are ...lack of appetite and...she is slightly orange. Carrots are not a food she will eat so I know to eliminate that. Until I can get her into the Doc's all I can think about is jaundice and live damage.

Thank you for your time.

Good luck to ya ....and get some medical attention quick..... don't wait!!!!!! Hope you are already at the ER!!!!

OH yeah...ER or wherever she can be seen immediately!! My son had a liver disease and you MUST NOT wait when your child is jaundiced. We went through H*ll with him and we had early intervention.

Just as an aside, red foods such as tomatos can cause orange skin also.

I hope she is O.K.

orange children are not normal...er stat...

Please let us know how she is!!!

Thank You everybody,

I will be taking her to ER stat and I will let you know the outcome.

Ahhhh...the next morning ISN'T Stat!!!!

Hope your babe is ok and just ate a lot of sweet potatoes and squash.

My son turned orangey, I took him to the MD all panicked but he was ok, thanks God.......

I hope it is nothing too! However having two children as well, you can never be too cautious...I have taken mine to the ER with vomiting, diarrhea,^ temp x's 3 days(it was a weekend) nothing but just a virus..:imbar ..but I felt much better and I didn't care....if I had not gone and it was something else I could never live with myself..so it was worth it...but then there was the time my son insisted he broke his tibia in soccer practice...there was only minimal redness ..NO real edema only slightly raised area....well, I told him to suck it up, by the next day when he refused to walk on it I thought I'll just take him to get an x-ray and that will prove to him that it is ok to walk on it...the Dr. walks in with x-ray in hand saying yep he' got a buckle fx. We need to cast it for 4 wks  my son said "SEE I TOLD YOU IT WAS BROKE"!!! Jeeesh, I thought HRS was going to swoop in and take me away.....so long story short...go,go,go,go...and please let us know:)

i agree!

Please let us know how it went. I'm glad you decided to bring her in.

good luck.

One question, what is the innoculation schedule like in Canada? Are all infants given A & B vaccines by age of two?

I really hope this little one is ok. I don't think I would have waited quite so long to have her seen. Jaundice isn't something to mess around with.
