My son, my hero!

I know some of you guys have been up on what kinds of cardiac things and some others going on along with it and am scheduled to drive to New Orleans, Louisiana to have a cardiac surgeon take a look at it and try to repair.

Lately, I have had a few episodes of syncope - the first I was in the kitchen and fell face first on to the tile in the kitchen. The second time was in my bedroom, and I didn't end up with any bruises. The first time, my dh and son were both home with me and called 911 so I could be transported to the ER.

The second time, my hubbie was at work and my 11 yr. old had gone to a friend's house. He tried to call me and didn't get an answer. He came right home, and found me in the bedroom on the floor. He said he got a little nervous after the fact, but I was so very proud of him.

He called 911 and told dispatch officers what was going on, and was able to convey to them over the phone what he saw and what was going on while we were waiting.

I was so surprised that he could keep his head clear in a crisis, but he did just great!

You should be proud to have such a caring and responsible son. Best wishes to you.

What an awesome kiddo you have! He is your hero and bless him for taking care of his mom and keeping his cool under pressure.

Take care of yourself and give your son a "high-five" for me!

Thanks, Gomer! I am the stepmother, but the 11 yr old lives with us full time due some ETOH and similar at this time. I was SO proud of him when I came around and the firemen were there, and he knew I was frightened, but got me a cool cloth and patted my hand, even when we were loading up in the back of the AMR ambulance rig.

Yes, I got me a good one, actually 2 good ones counting dad.

Glad to hear that your son did such a great job.

One question - do you think it's safe for you to drive to New Orleans, given your recent syncopal episodes? If there's anybody who could "chauffeur" you, that might be safer.

Good luck!

Great! Hopefully your DH will treat himself to a hurricane (EtOH drink, not the weather!) or two while he's in NO.

Right! I know I shouldn't, but I plan on having one too! Time's getting close, so I'm REALLY getting freaked out!

Done packing and now relaxing a little for the weekend before heading to New Orleans for my cardiac appt and surgery. The dh and I will be leaving early Monday am for our appt and Echo at 2pm, then surgery at 0800 on Tuesday. We hope to be home Wednesday night.

Many thanks to the AN members that were so helpful in information - and the hospitals and MD.

Thanks! I do appreciate it, Marla. Just nervous, I guess. And dh thinks I'm a little silly at the moment because I'm missing my Sissie - my mini weinie dog. Had to take her to the vet to board this afternoon. She's 3, and hadn't been boarded before.
