I am sooo sick of my class. I don't go to school, I go to an aquarium surrounded by spineless jellyfish.
It seems that I am always made out to look bad. Ex. Today, we had a 5 chp. Med-Surg test & just came off of 2 days of team-nursing clinicals. Well, after Med-Surg we had pharm. Today, we were suppose to have a math-test (for daily grade). Before our instructor came in, I asked how many people's brains are fried & would like to see if we can take the math test on Monday? Some people raised their hands. So.....when the instructor came in, I told her that "we are worn-out & could we PLEASE!!! take the math test on Monday" She said she didn't realize we had a major test today & if that is what the rest of the class wants, it's ok w/her. WELL, wouldn't you know, everyone just stared at her w/a blank look on their face when she asked that. AND, 1 girl said, "can we take it today if we wanted too?" And she said sure. WELL, EVERYONE DECIDED TO TAKE IT :angryfire I felt like a dumb---! This isn't the first time something like this has happened.
I'M SICK OF MY CLASSMATES! It is sad, but when/if I graduate in August - I am not going into the transition RN program. I do not want to be stuck with these people again, I am going to do an online course.
I just needed to vent.

And then of course, you will always have the 'superstudents' who want to be abused and lick the hands of the instructors. Yes, give us harder tests, yes count that question even though 95% of the class got it wrong on the test, yes, please beat me some more instructor.
Whoah. I've never seen this. I won't say I'm a "superstudent," but I do pretty well. And if the instructor is open to challenging test questions, I fight for every point. In one class, I usually got at least two extra points for the the entire class by arguing that certain test questions were flawed.
All of the "superstudents" that I've known were the same way. I've never seen the "please beat me some more" mentality ... ever.
As far as the test situation goes. Give me the test on the day that I am SUPPOSED to take it. I have prepared and made plans to get this over on this day. Now the annoying part is when the students act like they don't know what your talking about when they just SAID..... they would like to take it on Monday. I understand that part. You have to just be yourself and stop including other people (whether they want to or not) in your decisions. You see how they are. Yes, I would call this spineless, so leave them alone. Your stressing over nothing.
Jenn- I think one day you will make an excellent patient advocate. If you feel something is wrong, DIPLOMATICALLY present your concern. That way if you class doesn't stand behind you, you wont come across as the touble maker and your point may be fairly considered. For instance, you could say, "professor, I'm not sure how the entire class feels, but would you consider moving the test to this monday as we have had 2 exams today?"
I prefer too, to take the tests on the day they are scheduled. We have several students in my class that wanted to change test days, want to change uniforms, want to change due dates of this and that. I prefer just to go by the set schedule. And when they speak up, as a rule, they don't ask the remainder of the class--only a few in their group--then speak up and I and most others in the class get really pissed off because they take it upon themselves making it look as they are speaking for the whole class. And about changing uniforms--none of us like our uniforms but we spent a whole lot of $$ on them. One guy was complaining about his pants and wanted the teacher to speak, again, 'on our behalf' to the DON. Now this is a very traditional school and the idea of switching uniforms would have gone over with the DON like a lead balloon. the constant requests of changing this and that have made this class look like a bunch of whiners. grrrrrr :angryfire
that's really annoying. :angryfire i guess the topic is not just all about taking the exam on the scheduled date or whether it should be postponed on monday. what makes it bad are those who didn't have the guts to admit in front of the instructor what they stated while there was still no instructor on sight.
I agree that this thread isn't all about the exam and I really feel like we should be supporting the OP and watching how we are wording things. Am I right OP that you were coming here for support? If not, just ignore this.
I don't get this either. We're supposed to watch how we're wording things and walk on egg shells because someone couldn't delay a scheduled test?
As other posters have pointed out, maybe a lot of people really didn't want to delay the test, and I wouldn't blame them. It is a pain to have to worry about and review the material all over again if you're prepared to take the test and want get it done on the scheduled date.
I'm kinda tired of this unwritten rule that all posts have to be "supportive."
Especially when we're not talking about a major crisis here.

While yes, I agree that this board may be intended on being a healthy debate board, not just a support board, it is not intended to be a "tear one apart" board.

I don't get this thread. Ok. So a few people didn't speak up about delaying a test.
A lot of people loose their nerve in those situations. It's not unusual. This is pretty tame compared with what I've seen other classmates do. And it's certainly very tame compared with other incidents that have been posted on this board.
You don't want to be stuck with these people again? Geez. I'll take your classmates over some of mine any day, if this is all they've "done" to you.
