:) i had my drug test this afternoon. i am applying for a new job. it's a part of their pre-employment requirements. :)

just casted my ballots a while ago for the national elections. though i'll be leaving for clearwater florida pretty soon, the philippines will always be my country. i call on to my fellow nurses (whether in the philppines or are now in the usa) to please pray for our country. let us pray that this is going to be a peaceful election and that the elected officials will really perform their duties for the filipinos and not just for personal gains.

foreign nurses who qualify to work to the usa are not paid to study nursing in the usa. :chuckle they are already registered nurses in their own country and passed the cgfns (commision on graduates of foreign nursing schools) and the english tests: ielts/toefl & tse.

read...read and read...books for nclex. like kaplan, lippincot, saunders, nsna. practice answering questions. at least 50 questions a day. good luck. :)

nurses who work without a heart, nurses who work just like a robot... without any feelings at all. i hate that!!

hi. talking about the ielts.. i suggest you take it rather than the tse. i have to say it is easier and cheaper. but you have to practice your listening skills since i have some friends who failed in the listening part. i suggest you watch a lot of bbc news on cable 'cause it sounds more or less the same in the ielts listening test because of the accent. by the way you need to get an over-all band score of at least 6.5 and at least 7.0 for the speaking part to obtain a visa screen. keep in touch.

thanks for the encouragement. :) you see, i have taken my cgfns & ielts already. still waiting for the packet 2 for i-140 immigration and i'm very much excited to go to the us as well as worried because of so many discrimination issues.

for those filipino nurses who are already in the usa, are there really discriminations in the working area? :uhoh21: how do you handle it? :)

may this encourage you always. don't spend major time with minor people. if there are people in your life that continually disappoint you, break promises, stomp on your dreams, too judgmental, have different values and don't have your back during difficult times...that is not a friend. remember what your elders used to say, "birds of a feather flock together. if you're an eagle, don't hang around chickens: chickens can't fly! to have a friend, be a friend. sometimes in life as you grow, your friends will either grow or go. surround yourself with people who reflect values, goals interests and lifestyle. over the years my phone book has changed because i changed for the better. at first you think you're going to be alone, but after a while new people show up in your life that make your life so much sweeter and easier to endure. when i think of any of my successes, i am thankful to god from whom all blessings flow, and to my family and friends that enrich my life. i love the lord and thank him for all that he does in my life, therefore, i'm passing this on. yes i do love jesus. he is my source of existence and savior. he keeps me functioning each and everyday. without him, i will be nothing. without him, i am nothing but with him i can do all things. phil 4:13

margie...good luck. it's nice to know that there are now quite a number of people taking up nursing. when i graduated from nursing school, there were only 25 of us in our graduating class. which part of australia are you from? i have a cousin there, last time i knew she was in melbourne. keep in touch. :)

kyutnurse...yep. i've heared of the nclex being modified this april. they say it's going to be difficult. i'm still here in the philippines. hoping and prating to get there by next year. though i really hate all the waiting for thr nis/bcis processing. then again.. patience is a virtue. :)
