Hi, i was on my second row of night shift when a patient called to help her to clean the baby's diaper.. When i went inside, as usual i started to check the diapers, and when i was starting to clean the meconium the father quickly stopped me and said pls wait i wanna take a picture of my baby's first poo.. I was like oh gosh.. I was just thinking inside my heart " why dont you keep some as well so that when you baby grows up you can ask her/him to smell it too?" hahaha.. I dont know probably its a trend of taking photos of babies poo.. Hahaha and there was once a mother called to nursery to ask for assistance in cleaning diapers.. She asked" my baby has moved his bowels, can you come qnd clean it?" hahaha we were laughing like hell in nursery but of course not in front of the mother..wow if your baby can move his own involuntary bowel tissues he must be a superhero.. Hahaha once there was another mother just called in to nursery to ask regarding her baby who was under phototheraphy and instead she asked" hows my baby doing under the 'photogenic'? I smiled and said its phototheraphy maam... Hahaha.. Just for jokes.. Do you have anything else about something like this to share.. Pls do so..

I am simply astounded that a mother cannot clean her own baby's butt.

In their defense, I had zero baby experience when I had my child, so I was afraid at first to do anything without guidance...but you learn fast!

I had a dad want to take a pic of his baby's first meconium, which, when he explained to me why, I thought was pretty neat. He was a veterinarian whose area of interest was animal GI issues. He took a pic of the meconium to use in a slide show to show his students what it looks like - other baby animals have meconium too, not just baby people.

In the NICU I was taking care of a baby who had been there about 3 months but was getting ready to go home, the mother came into my other patients room where I was very busy with an obviously much sicker baby (and she should have known as her own baby used to be one of the very sick ones) and she asked me to change her baby's diaper, I told her she could feel free to do it and I told her where the diapers were. She proceeded to get very upset with me, tell me it was MY job to change her baby's diaper and she hunted down the charge nurse to tell on me, really!

Did the mom have a c-section? I'm perfectly capable of changing a diaper but after my c-section, I honestly needed help because it hurt too much lean and change a diaper. My husband would change diapers when he was there but during most of my hospital stay, he was working (mandatory pre-deployment training).
hehehe, in our hospital we must do it because mother is in pain and cannot sit up and move her hands(due to iv cannulation).. but i don't mind helping the mothers cleaning their babies poo but i was just wondering how is she gonna clean her baby's poo when she get back home.. is she gonna call her neighbor:yeah: to do it? haha
OH MY GOD!! hate this kind of mother's..tell me about it.. this is what often happens in my unit.. its not like we are asking her to EAT her baby's poo, just CLEAN it!! omg, may god bless these souls...
that's a good charge nurse!!
