  1. Who do nurses make more than?

Most people answered your question and gave some good advice, whether it was what you wanted to hear or not. If you can't take a little criticism you will never even survive nursing school.
  2. afraid ...

Most places have a "don't ever talk to the media rule" so I definitely wouldn't respond to her on fb. I think your friend is right. The less you say until you have to the better off you will be. The place you work for will know how to handle it, and ...
  3. Tennessee medical assistant laws?

What? MA's are most definitely not supposed to be starting IV's! As far as I know they can give meds and injections and such, but IVs are a no no! And I'm pretty sure if you look hard enough you can find what they can and can't do in TN. I have found...
  4. MAs call themselves Nurses at my office..opinions please?

Wow, what state do you live in? My nursing curriculum looked nothing like that. I also noticed you added the pre-reqs in with the CMA's curriculum. And MA's are certified, not licensed, there is a difference. The main issue is when someone hears the ...
  5. MAs call themselves Nurses at my office..opinions please?

Wow, where I work as an LPN, we all have name badges with our name followed by title, but underneath both, LPNs and MAs, it says "nurse". Also, our "nursing educator" is an MA. I love all the MAs I work with, they work just as hard as me, however I k...
  6. Nursing is not what I thought it would be!

I am confused as to why you would come into a nursing forum, knowing that you are going to see topics like this if it makes you so angry, and even click on the title which tells you what it is about. Why not just skip it?
  7. who is at fault?

I was just asking peoples opinions and trying to have a discussion on this, as it really bothered me that someone would abuse their power in such a way. I wasn't waiting patiently for responses to advise her on what to do. Unfortunately in my area sp...
  8. Starting at a doctor's office next week...

my first job after nursing school was at a Dr's office. I was extremely nervous, but my biggest mistake was thinking they expected me to know everything. Don't be embarrassed if you don't, I have worked in the same office for over a year now and stil...
  9. who is at fault?

I have a friend who recently had a very serious surgery. When she woke up the NP who was checking on her was in the room. The NP and the pt (my friend) went to high school together over 10 yrs ago at which time the NP had accused the pt of "trying to...
  10. Mandatory Overtime for LPN's?

I used to work at a place where if someone called in you had to work their shift which was totaling 16-20 hr shifts several times a week. I was more than happy to turn in my keys!
  11. It's funny that everyone keeps using the "because you didn't learn that in school" reason because most of the things mentioned we did learn. We learned about blood, we learned how to hang blood, how to watch for reactions and what to do should there ...
  12. anyone use pearson vue study guide?

I "Crammed" too. I also used "Nursing made incredibly easy" to remember acronyms. However, most people say that what they studied wasn't on the test, and that was my case.
  13. LPN Unemployed!

Float pools are usually looking to hire ANYONE. And in the meantime, you will get TONS of experience in different areas.
  14. New grad single dad with a question

You could always try to find a PRN position until he starts school. Thats what I do, and I get 30 hrs a week, plus a hefty increase in pay since I am so "flexible". Of course, that is if you don't need benefits until you can find something full-time.
  15. Another rant regarding MA's and Nurses

When I "ranted" about this in a previous post, someone told me that anyone can do what the doctor says is okay to do. My main rant was an x-ray tech who was administering meds and injections and calling herself and answering to the term "nurse". Fun...
