My baby's poo

Published

Hi, i was on my second row of night shift when a patient called to help her to clean the baby's diaper.. When i went inside, as usual i started to check the diapers, and when i was starting to clean the meconium the father quickly stopped me and said pls wait i wanna take a picture of my baby's first poo.. I was like oh gosh.. I was just thinking inside my heart " why dont you keep some as well so that when you baby grows up you can ask her/him to smell it too?" hahaha.. I dont know probably its a trend of taking photos of babies poo.. Hahaha and there was once a mother called to nursery to ask for assistance in cleaning diapers.. She asked" my baby has moved his bowels, can you come qnd clean it?" hahaha we were laughing like hell in nursery but of course not in front of the mother..wow if your baby can move his own involuntary bowel tissues he must be a superhero.. Hahaha once there was another mother just called in to nursery to ask regarding her baby who was under phototheraphy and instead she asked" hows my baby doing under the 'photogenic'? I smiled and said its phototheraphy maam... Hahaha.. Just for jokes.. Do you have anything else about something like this to share.. Pls do so..

Did the mom have a c-section? I'm perfectly capable of changing a diaper but after my c-section, I honestly needed help because it hurt too much lean and change a diaper. My husband would change diapers when he was there but during most of my hospital stay, he was working (mandatory pre-deployment training).

you have absolutely no reason to worry about it dear... its normal to need help on the first 2 days of your c-section.. but in my hospital, whether c-section or spontaneous lady partsl delivery and even after the 6 days of delivery they still ask the nurse to do it... there was once a father of a baby who called our nursery unit from his room phone and asked" sorry, can i have the maid(staff nurse) in here to clean my baby's poo?" mhmmm thats nursing in my hospital...:crying2:

Saying that someone has "moved their bowels" is asking them if they have had a BM (bowel movement). We say this all the time in the ICU.

I wanted pictures taken of my placenta with my last baby. As at that time I had the baby on my chest I asked my husband to take pictures of it. He laughed, then when i didn't laugh said," Wait, are you serious?" It is really cool looking.

LV - I did the EXACT same thing. The doc mentioned something about it being 'sort of big', so I sent my husband over to take a photo while Little Girl was skin-to-skin.

I had wanted to bring it home with me and bury it but he refused. I figured the least he owed me was a photo. Good to know there is a kindred spirit out there. LOL

Yeah my son's umbilical cord had a true knot in it so I wanted pics of it. My husband did tell me as cool as I thought it was, to refrain from posting it on facebook or showing it to people without them expressing interest in seeing it. :lol2:

I did post mine on facebook with a warning on the picture right before it: "If you are easily grossed out, close your eyes and click twice on that arrow beside this pic." My nurse friends thought it was awesome; my non-nurse friends tell me they could've lived without seeing that. :lol2:
