With so many months of studying and prayers...I PASSED nclex! Thank you God! I still can't believe it! What a wonderful feeling! I kept on reading and re-reading the letter from CA BON that says I've passed the NCLEX-RN exam! I studied Saunder's and did so many Q&A's probably around 1,500 and did the Kaplan Q Trainer. My advice for those nclex takers:
1. Study the golden book Saunders from cover to cover and practice questions everyday.
2. Dont stress yourself and when you feel like nauseous of studying, take a break, and dont ever force yourself to study.
3. Know your most active hours of studying like for me my active hours is in the afternoons and evenings. I studied for the minimum of 1 hour and maximum of 4 hours.
4. Make a calendar and use it to monitor your progress.
5. Divide study and leisure time. Remember the phrase "all work and no play makes a dull mind."
6. Use motivational words to boost your confidence, I have this words posted on my desk "I'll lose only if i don't prepare hard enough" and from the bible "What things so ever you desire when you pray, believe that you receive them and you shall have them- Mark 11:24"
7. Surround yourself with positive people who encourages you and cheers you to go on
8. Two weeks before your exam do the kaplan Q trainer. I got scores of 50's 60's and got 71% on trainer 7.
9. The day on your exam: Charge!!!! and slay the nclex beast! hehehe
10. Finally prayer really works! I went to mass the day before my exam and did the novena to st. jude.
Now all i need is the SSN. Aside from the letter of passing, where else can i confirm that i passed the NCLEX? I just wanted to be sure hehehe Goodluck to everyone! Fight! Fight! Fight!

foreign trained nurses like us really have to study twice as hard as american trained nurses. FYI, passing the nclex for a foreign trained nurse is the same as our local board exams (around 40%) wow! congratulations for being one of the 40%!

Congrats on passing but you have a long wait ahead before you get SSN. Check out the International forum as much has already been written on Ca and SSN
thanks! I still can't believe i surpassed that exam! Such a blessing! This was my 2nd time to take it and im relieved that was over. In my first failed attempt, I crammed my review all the way up to the exam date. I was reviewing 4 books at the same time :chuckle soooo this time i made sure to take it slow and relax every now and then...and I didnt tell anyone that i was scheduled to take the exam coz i dont want them to stress me. So it was a surprize for them when i told that i passed the nclex.
I'm just an average student, so you can pass too!
I also browsed some books like lippincott, mosby prio delegation book,Saunders multiple response strategy. But use Saunders as your top priority for the review. I had questions in every aspect of nursing. I got probably 12 or 18 SATA, 2 med calcs which i didnt get that right, lots and lots of prioritization delegation assessment. I was palpitating and my palms were sweating while doing the exam. My brain swelled and ached so much after that!

Wow congratulation and enjoy your new Job as RN.
You need to tell me how you prepared for this cause am so stress out with studding studying!!!!!!!!! is in sine… tell me dear cause now am ready for any kind of help, 3 time I did and am not ready to give up.
Well..aside from my advices which i had posted previously, I guess it all boils down to what are your studying habits? If you are easily distracted, try to study in the library. For some, they can't study without coffee so some of my nclex takers friends do their studying at the coffee shop (Starbucks Seattles etc). For me I studied at home during my active hours(much cheaper) :)coz im more comfy with it. Plus I can unwind or take a break by watching TV or DVD's after those grueling hours of studying. It really depends on you.
I had these Springhouse,Mosby nclex review books that were given to me which I didnt use...I found the Saunder's 4th edition comprehensive review much more useful and complete with their content and I used this exclusively:up:. The Kaplan Q trainer was very useful, they say its a mirror image of the nclex format. But when I took the nclex, some questions were like Kaplan style, and some questions Saunder's stlye. And I was a poor test taker so I was really digesting the test taking strategies that Saunder's have (very helpful!). I wasnt able to finish the 3000 questions (for some this is the Q & A requirement you have to cover before you take the exam), I only did half of them... In every questions I studied and analyzed the rationale and in the last month before the exam, I concentrated more on doing the Q & A.
I'm not a studious person...Im lazy! so i made a blank calendar and i only list the things that I had covered on it. For example:
Monday: Pedia Onco Review, Pedia Onco Quiz= 70%
Pedia Cardio Review,Pedia Cardio Quiz=60%
Pedia Respi Review, Pedia Quiz (continued tomorrow)
Tuesday: Pedia Respi Quiz= 80%
Pedia Integumentary and quiz= 75%
Watch movie...
Pedia Gastro Review,Pedia Gastro Quiz=70%
And so forth...
I made sure that I have achieved in a week at least some of the chapters in Saunders and got 75% of the quizzes at the end of it. You can also do the assessment that the Saunders have on their CD and use that as your guide. Use also a notebook to jot down those difficult questions so you can review.
Just make sure you also have time to relax and re-charge your brain every now and then coz it may get too tired and may overheat (hehehe) in the point of exhaustion.
I hated pharm so i just made a simple story like SSRI: ZOrro (Zoloft) knows he cant drive a LEXus (Lexapro) because he can become drowsy and sleepy (side effect). He REMembred (Remeron) this WELL (Wellbutrin) etc....some of those were in my native language so I cant really post it here hehehe
