i believe that like most jobs and professions it all depends on where you live, the place you work at and considering the cost of living (if its worth it). i am not a nurse and couldn't answer your question, but maybe you could look at google nursing salaries and see what your state falls under. best of luck to you :)

The one at the LTC where I worked earned $90K. At least that was the rumor.

Specializes in Nephrology, Cardiology, ER, ICU.

Saw an advertisement in our Sunday paper for "up to $65,000 for DON. This is central IL.

I looked it up on salary.com once, major cities had compensation packages approaching $200,000 per year, mid size cities around 100-150k and smaller places in the 50-100k range. It's all about location and size of the facility. When I say compensation package I am talking about pay, benefits, bonuses, etc all together. Not a bad check but in a big corporation or major hospital could you even imagine the amounts of buttkissing and backstabbing that would have to be done to achieve that position :) j/k

Depends on whether the location is metropolitan or rural. The more rural the facility and the fewer the beds, the less the pay. 100 to 150 bed in rural ohio - $39,000 - $60,000 depending on experience and years on the job.

Depends on a number of variables:

Setting ie Major metro hospital or rural LTC

# of employees in Nursing Department

For profit or non-profit

Where you live

Your experience level

Go to Salary.com

You can enter the specifics of your situation as above and get a range of pay for the setting, size of facility, profit status, geographical area, your experience in similar area of responsibility. Of course, how long that position is open can impact an offer.
