MT SAC FALL 2018

U.S.A. California

Published

Good evening everyone,

I didn't see a thread for potential Mt sac nursing students applying for Fall 2018. Since, I am from Northern California I think this is the best way for me to connect with the others who are applying.

How many points are you applying with ?

I'm super bummed. I had my appt, they said I was in the top ten, but made a small error on my application and so they denied me. I took my Micro off campus at another school, and although I got an A in the class, I listed it under prereqs AND uploaded the transcripts for that program, I forgot to add that one school/class to the list of universities attended. Denied. Sharing this in case anyone can learn from my mistake. I have a 4.0 and a 94 on the HESI. I am still in shock that I didn't get in.

I'm assuming that applies to the upcoming semester? If it's a simple error, will you be allowed to fix this error and apply next semester/session? If so, take this time off to relax before the craziness just starts. Otherwise, that's very unfortunate :(.

Yes, I can apply again in July, but that just sets me back another year, sadly. I will try and look at the bright side and rest and relax like you said. Haha, thanks for a different perspective. I'm a single mom, so I really need to get through school to support us. I will get there eventually!

wow really? that's terrible. It seems like you put a lot of effort and commitment in order to get that 4.0, and to have it all stripped away for that? And top 10 is another great accomplishment.:( I wish you the best in your nusing career. Did you apply to any other colleges?

Thank you so much! I didn't at this time. MTSAC was my first choice because it's a great school and it's local for me. I can't go very far because I still need to get my kids to school and all that. I might try and get into Cal Baptist or APU next. Excited for you guys!

Enjoy it to the max. I waited 2.5 years before I got in at Mt. SAC. This was when it was lottery based (you were guaranteed in, eventually). It was both unfortunate, but fortunate at the same time. I did not do so well in my pre-reqs so Mt. SAC was the only local CC that I could apply for and have a chance getting it at that time lol.

But you did it!! Woohoo!! Hard work and perseverance!

Not sure if Pasadena is too far for you, but the application period for Pasadena City College is April 1 - April 30.

THANK YOU! It's a bit far, but I'll look into it.

Hi. I don't thinkall students on the waiting mist can eventually get in. Only several top alternates can get in every semester because some top 60 students tranfer or drop out. Last semester's cut off was 72 which was the lowest in history. This spring's lowest top 60 was 78 before counselling. But I don't know if there was aby change or not after counselling.

Patpat. Last semester I was so sure that I could get in but I was denied because they said they couldn't open my transcripts from Mtsac itself out of mystery reason! I got all As in Mtsac and 91.6 in HESI. I didn't get any chance because I was rejected on the first step! I was so shocked when they told me the reason when I went there asking why I didn't get the email. So I understand how you feel. This semester I was very careful before I submitted the application and after that I called them to open my application to make sure the same mistake wouldn't happen again. I think thia time I am in. So hang on there!

Plus, I have three kids and I went to division to appeal but was useless.

do the pharm hw ahead of time, dont study anatomy or physio at all, they dont really go over it; its a good idea to read ahead of the semester because it will get intense soon

Hey, Candicore! It was great you got in last year. I have been to the counselling and I think I am in this semester finally.

You said it's good to read ahead and do Pharm Hw. Can you give us more information? Like what book should we use? Edition wise? Thank you and enjoy your first semester!
