I didn't see a thread for potential Mt sac nursing students applying for Fall 2018. Since, I am from Northern California I think this is the best way for me to connect with the others who are applying.

How many points are you applying with ?

how long is the waitlist for mt.sac ?

No waitlist. It's not a lottery. It's a one time process according to your points based on the multicreteria screening system. You can google it. If your points are high enough, you get in. If not, reapply next time. No waiting.

Hi guys!

I'm not an applicant for fall 2018 and just found out this thread randomly but I have a question for you guys.

I was told from the counselor that mt sac doesn't accept applications from applicants without AA degree. I think she meant it is good to have it before submitting all the papers since its a point system.

I was wondering if you guys had finished all the GEs and prerequisites before you guys applied. Mine seems like it is going to be done by spring 2019 and does that mean that I have to wait for 2020 Fall? Have anyone applied while he or she was doing the last semester?

You have to finish prerequisites to apply because the GPA of the 3 prerequisites is part of the screening system and weighs the heavist:40 points.

You don't need the degree though. But it helps because it earns you 8 points.

Hello! Congrats on everyone who got into the program? I'm sure you guys are super busy with the program now but I wondering if anyone knows if most of the alternates got into the program and if you have any suggestions on which counselors are better to meet with to see where I stand in the application pool as it seems some students received more information than others. Thanks.

Hi all,

I hope you guys are enjoying your first semester of nursing school. I just got accepted to Mt.SAC nursing school for spring 2019.

I'd appreciate any advice you guys have for a new nursing student. What sites for N1A AND N1B are good and what site should be avoided, etc.?

Although it's been several years since I graduated, if I recall, most of the med-surge sites (N1B) were all pretty good (Chino Valley, San Antonio, Foothill Pres, Queen of the Valley, Inter Community, PIH) unless they had changed it since then. I honestly don't even remember the geriatric facility I went to in N1A lol. Good luck.

Your call. I'm a reader, writer, and highlighter so I made my textbooks bleed and basically read from front to back every required textbook for every class that was pertinent to the test. I never went back to Fundamentals, Psych, Maternity, or Peds textbooks when I finished the class. Medsurge textbook you will use all throughout nursing school. Each person has a different study method so you will need to find what yours is. I had several classmates that NEVER read the book but did well in every class. Unfortunately, I was the opposite lol.

As a side note, I used Saunders and the Kaplan (the review books and resources we were given) to study for the NCLEX. I never referred back to anynotes or text books from nursing school.
