Really all it sounds like is they're changing the name and each box will have both male and female accessories. The accessories will still let kids choose whether it's Mr or Mrs/Miss Potato Head. Might actually mean the kids get more to play with since it'll include accessories for both, plus a "tater tot".
From the article:
QuoteStarting in the fall, Hasbro will sell Potato Head family kits. They’ll come with two non-gendered “adult” potatoes, one “baby” potato and 42 accessories, according to a spokeswoman. That will let kids decide the parents’ gender, rather than being told they are “Mr.” and “Mrs.”
This is the toy I first played with -- needed own potato to add body parts., my brother Tom 9 yrs younger played with first pictured version.
Placed thread in politics as House of Rep. removed sex named labels Mother/father, she/he from their 2021 rule book along with "cancel culture" discussed in this forum.
I can ask to be moved to coffee lounge section if desired.

They still sell them in my area candy shops. along with the buttons
Old Time Candy even has the bubblegum cigars; one can search their site by "candy decade" to see what was popular.
Miles Kimball has a "nosgalic" candy section that fuels my memory too.

I've been married for 44 years but I don't identify myself as a "Mrs." it's a part of my life, but I don't see why it should be a part of my name.
Perhaps it's a regional thing, but I see plenty of marriage in my area. I can think of at least 3 reality TV shows that focus on marriage.

Gender neutral gone too far -- removing "Mr and Mrs" aka male and female species. Why not just add "Potato Head" for those who desire gender neutral play.
Guess, I'm not up of current children's play toys thinking, as I loved Mr Potato Heads mustache. Able to eat wax candy version as a kid....sigh, another childhood memory robbed from today's children. ---loved playing with the wax red lips too.
Still available Wack-O-Wax mustache + lips --now part of the Tootsie company.
