Mount St. Mary's College LA - Accelerated BSN 2010

Published

This is a new thread for anyone that has applied to the Mount St. Mary's College Accelerated BSN program in Los Angeles for 2010 entry.

This is my second application for admission since I wasn't offered admission for Fall 2009. Did anyone hear anything back yet for Spring 2010? Is there an interview process? I have read conflicting information on this topic. I also applied to Samuel Merritt in the Bay Area (also turned down twice to 2 programs for Fall 2009 entry). They wont be sending out admission offers until February for March start dates!! Would love to hear from fellow nursing school hopefuls :o)

Good luck to all you!!

Betsy

that definitely sounds easier... i wonder how the rest of the seattle course is.

how do you do presentations in online classes anyway?

Hello fellow applicants,

I have also applied for the 2010 Fall cohort. My situation is similar to Paul's, in that I am finishing up my Microbiology and a Philosophy class this semester. So these are my last "in progress" courses. I also currently volunteer at HMH. Small world, aye?

Anyways, nice to meet all of you and good luck to us all.

Did any of you guys apply elsewhere? I've been accepted to 3 other places... Does everyone have to go through an interview process or do some people automatically get accepted? Can we also do an interview over the phone?

@Paul Per the course website, I don't think you have to give the presentation, just create a powerpoint presentation along with the paper. However, lots of reading and many weekly assignments.

Regarding interviews - I was told last cohort that they interview everyone that is qualified. However, I was never interviewed and had Micro and Physio in progress at that time. Now that I everything is done, I'm hoping that I do at least get to that stage.

Nice. I'm sure that I've seen you around.

I'm worried that still having courses in progress will be the biggest detriment to my application, especially since so many people applied for fall 2010.

Hopefully not. Where did you take your prereqs "therocketeer?"

I just checked the "My Documents" folder in webadvisor, and my profile now says:

Transfer Credit Eval Update

Received

04/26/10

Advising

hopefully that's a good indicator...

Btw sugarlips, is there any way that you could please resend me the link for the Seattle ethics course? I thought that I bookmarked it, but apparently I didn't.

@Paul - LOL mine's been in the same state since the 15th. Definitely a good thing.

Check your inbox for the link.

Hi everyone! I also applied for Fall 2010, and I talked to an advisor the other day and she said things usually get updated on webadvisor every 4 weeks so that's probably why it changes so infrequently.

Paul, when I went to the information session they said when you have the main science courses in progress than that's usually a deterrent in your application. I know people that have gotten in with two or more pre-reqs in progress that weren't the main science courses. Although, there is a new cohort every semester so things change!

Good luck to everyone! Please post if you hear anything about an interview, I read on previous posts people saying they weren't going to do interviews this year? Not sure, but if you get one please post!

I haven't heard that they are not doing interviews. Where did you hear that? Just last cohort they did interviews.

I just read it on a post, I didn't hear it from the faculty that's what I said I wasn't sure. After I read that on a post I thought it was weird as well!

Sugarlips did you apply for Spring 2010? And if so did you get an interview?

Yes, I applied last cohort, but wasn't interviewed. At the time of application I had Micro and Physio in progress. I'm hoping the fact that I got an A in both will help me in this next go around and my continued volunteering at Cedars Sinai. My GPA from my previous degree, when I finished in 1994, was awful, so if I don't get in I'm blaming it on that.

has anyone gotten in with one science course in progress? oh man, if i dont get in that'll probably be why...

@sugarlips, i looked in my private messages folder, but i dont see the message from you :( am i looking in the wrong place?

you're starting your class on 5/34 right? how long do you have to complete it? has MSMC already approved it as the upper division bioethics course?
