This is a new thread for anyone that has applied to the Mount St. Mary's College Accelerated BSN program in Los Angeles for 2010 entry.

This is my second application for admission since I wasn't offered admission for Fall 2009. Did anyone hear anything back yet for Spring 2010? Is there an interview process? I have read conflicting information on this topic. I also applied to Samuel Merritt in the Bay Area (also turned down twice to 2 programs for Fall 2009 entry). They wont be sending out admission offers until February for March start dates!! Would love to hear from fellow nursing school hopefuls :o)

Good luck to all you!!

Has anyone heard about an interview yet for MSMC? I keep checking Webadvisor, but it has said they are evaluating my documents and status is "advising." Last update was Nov. 5.

I haven't heard anything yet either. They updated my status as of Nov 17 to transfer credit evaluation but that has been the only activity since July!! do they definitely have an interview process? Because I heard conflicting information on that.

i submitted my reactivation application (i got denied admittance the first time i applied) on november 1st and haven't heard anything yet. i checked webadvisor and they received everything. how were everyone's grades like? when i inquired why i didnt get in the first time, they told me it was because of my grades and because my personal statement wasn't strong enough (i got all b's and a C on my sciences). i retook the class i got a C in and did much better...

did anyone do the reactivation application for may 2010 cohort?

This is my first time applying. I got all A's and one B in my sciences. However, my GPA from my previous BA was horrible. When you wrote your personal statement, did you answer the questions separately or as one statement?

@sugarlips: i answered them separately...when i met with the nursing admissions adviser prior to applying the first time, i asked her abt that and she said it's better when each question is answered separately instead of bulking everything up in one answer. have you heard anything yet?

I haven't heard anything, but saw that as of 11/5/09 my credits were being evaluated and that everything was received. When should we hear something if we are being granted an interview? I thought I would call like the 2nd week of December.

I combined my statement because the 1st and 2nd kind of overlapped and thought I could answer stronger by combining instead of repeating myself. Hope it came through that way.

Rocky16, I was denied admission the first time I applied too. But it didn't surprise me because I had a few classes in progress still and my application was kind of last minute. I fixed up my goal statement before resubmitting my next application but I didn't answer each question individually. I hope that doesn't go against me. My Science grades (so far) are all A's, I am finishing up my Chemistry class in the next 2 weeks. My GPA from my first degree is 3.25 but I am not sure how they calculate the GPA for admissions b/c I think they mostly focus on the required classes to get in their program. I wonder how many people applied. To Sugarlips, keep us posted on what the response is when you call admissions. Did either of you apply anywhere else?

@betsyct Will do. I also applied to UCLA's MECN, CSUN ABSN, and Johns Hopkins ABSN. Will be completing my application to SFSU MECN, too. With all this competition, definitely not putting all my eggs in one basket.

Good luck!

Just called to find out the timeline and found out that they are sending out letters either this week or next week regarding interviews and we should be notified by mid-January if we got in. OK, great. This kind of information right in the middle of finals!!!! AHHHHH! I guess if I don't get in I can drop my Ethics class for Winter session. LOL

Thanks so much for keeping me updated!! Everyday when I check the mail, I say "my acceptance letter isn't in there yet, it will come tomorrow" I am trying to use the power of positive thinking!!! Let's stay in touch to find out either way. Good luck to both of us!!!
