Mount St. Mary's College LA - Accelerated BSN 2010

Published

This is a new thread for anyone that has applied to the Mount St. Mary's College Accelerated BSN program in Los Angeles for 2010 entry.

This is my second application for admission since I wasn't offered admission for Fall 2009. Did anyone hear anything back yet for Spring 2010? Is there an interview process? I have read conflicting information on this topic. I also applied to Samuel Merritt in the Bay Area (also turned down twice to 2 programs for Fall 2009 entry). They wont be sending out admission offers until February for March start dates!! Would love to hear from fellow nursing school hopefuls :o)

Good luck to all you!!

Pauli, what do you do at HH? I'm about to start a volunteer position there in May just so I can say I've had some type of hospital experience.

Did you guys apply to other programs/schools too or only MSM?

I'm going to enroll in bioethics this week.

I'm a patient transporter. Basically, I just take patients to and from exams.

That's very cool! Hmh is a good place to volunteer. They recently just made life-size cardboard cutouts of some volunteers, so maybe they'll make one of you (if you're lucky, haha).

How fun!! Let me know when you start in may. My department orients volunteers, so I'm sure that I'll run into you at some point.

Edit: so far, this is the only program that I've applied to. If I don't get in this time, I'll give MSMC one more shot. I feel that my courses that are "in progress" are the only things holding me back. Hopefully being a guy helps one get admitted to a womens' school.

where are you guys going to take bioethics?

Online at Taylor university. I believe that the course is called PHIL 410e

I'm enrolling on 5/24 for the online bioethics class at North Seattle. A little more money, but I really don't see me writing a 25 page paper with the way my life is at the moment. Perhaps once I can leave my job and dedicate myself to school 100% it could happen.

This week I'll know if I made it into SFSU, but still holding out for MSMC.

Is that class supposed to be easier? How did you hear about it?

Specializes in Pediatrics.

I don't actually think it is easier. It is listed as 5 credits. (see my earlier post) I just know myself and know that I am not great at research papers, especially ones that are not factaully based, but opiniated.

I found it just doing a search and then sent the information to MSMC to see if it would qualify.

When I asked at the last info session, they said they had about 300 apps for the Fall 2010 cohort, but at the time only 198 were complete. Has anyone taken the Taylor Bioethics course online? They don't give much info on their website. Is it really a 25 pg term paper at the end?

That's what I keep reading in previous posts of those who are taking the course or who have completed it. In the Seattle course it's a maximum of 1500 words and a presentation.

I'm sure that the papers aren't based solely on one's opinion. You probably just have to read and use the books that they require as sources.

Has anyone completed the Seattle course?! Sounds way easier.

Specializes in Pediatrics.

yes, Paul, I'm definitely sure it is based on that. However, yes the Seattle class ends with a presentation and paper that is a maximum of 1500 words. More my kind of speed.
