Mount Sinai ABSN Summer 2020

Hi all,

Has anyone applied to and/or gotten an admission decision from Mount Sinai PSON for the ABSN program starting Summer 2020?

We have had classes end in the evening sometimes, and it will be somewhat frightening in that area, I guess we will have to stick in big groups.

I don't find East Harlem to be that bad but I recognize that that's very subjective. Always a good idea to walk in groups at night if possible though.

I'm going to contact the school soon because I don't know how they'd like us to go about it, coronavirus being a thing and all. Did you?

I plan to mail the forms with the money order tomorrow. I sent the email to POSN with some questions this morning and still not get a reply yet.

Did you hear back? It seems like they still want us to mail in the form and get a money order. I am really unhappy about having to go to the post office given what is going on. It also seems like no one is in the office so I'm not sure how they will even open the mail to see who confirmed attendance...

I haven't heard back unfortunately...I agree: how would you know who wants to attend or not if no-one is in office? I asked if it's possible to confirm this information online/pay online, when I hear back I'll be sure to report.

I'm loathe to go the post office too, so let's see what they say.

I’m feeling super anxious that only people who applied for Summer have heard back. I applied for fall early (in Mid December) because Mrs gallo(who is now resigning) advised me to, whether applying for Summer or fall. Since it’s considered rolling admission, I assumed applications would be reviewed in the order they were received(especially now that Summer and fall are combined). Buttttt they aren’t and people who applied later than I did, heard back just bc they applied for the Summer. I feel like fall applicants are definitely at a disadvantage now. There’s no way they are doubling the cohort size to combine both Summer and fall, making less spots available for people who applied for fall. Also, I spoke to Mrs Gallo months ago after submitting my app to ask to be considered for the Summer term instead of fall and she said sure she willl let the committee know. I’ve reached out to confirm that the info was relayed and with other questions but since then have not heard back from her. Months went by with no answers(That was in early January). Finally she answered me yesterday telling me she’s resigning. Sorry I’m totally just venting here!! Don’t know where else to! CONGRATS to all those accepted!

It's OK to vent, this is a very stressful process! I wish I could tell you that it's definitely one way or another but I can't unfortunately: I have no idea what this process looks like from the admin side. If it's any reassurance at all, because the school is moving to new building, it sounds like the admission process is super disorganized (view all the previous messages in this thread). I know the anxiety you're writing about because I definitely felt it a few days ago, I'd just tell you to hold tight and follow up with admissions via phonecall.

Thanks for listening and responding! I was just provided with a new email address to reach someone at the school, so hopefully they will respond.
