Hi all,
Has anyone applied to and/or gotten an admission decision from Mount Sinai PSON for the ABSN program starting Summer 2020?
Thanks!

Sure!
I find my experience with the school very fair and manageable. I understand that frustration sometimes kicks in when students don’t have the time to see a professor after lecture due to train schedules, family demands back home, and study time. However, if you follow the professor's advice in getting your readings and assignments done prior to lecture, and doing practice questions afterwards, then things will be okay! It's very critical and important that you follow the professor's advice (on how to study, how to pass the course) since they have once been in our shoes before, plus they have more nursing experience compared to us novice nursing students. At the end of it all, it's what you make out of it that will enable you to either like or dislike the program. The more you invest towards your studies (the smart way), the more you reap the benefits.
My best tip and advise is to follow your own guts and intuition regarding whether the program is the best fit for you. Also, you should weigh both the pros and cons and have a few people give their insights about the program before making a huge decision. It's one of those life-decisions that you shouldn't take lightly since it's a huge investment and time! Do not allow the decisions of others to be a determining factor in your decision process. It's all about intuition at the end. What works for one individual might not work for someone else. No institution is perfect. Each has its own pros and cons. It's what you make out of it at the end of it all. Do not be shy or afraid to talk or make new friends, even during school visiting hours or when attending orientation on the first week of school. Have at least 1 or 2 close friends you can study with or even vent to in regards to life crisis or circumstances. We are all in the same boat! Last, please, avoid any unnecessary drama that has NOTHING to do with you! Sometimes, being an active listener is enough to group you in being part of the drama. It's best to be inattentive and simply change the topic, or best, walk away. It's very funny how many times I've seen a group talking about a professor negatively, and then the professor happens to walk by them.
Also, my advice is delay gratification! You need to sacrifice a lot just to do at least minimally well in the nursing program. It's very challenging. So, you have to choose which one is more important: going out with friends to party or going out to study? Whichever decision you choose while in the program will surely reflect on you towards the end of the semester!
Please hydrate, sleep well, and study! Have a good time schedule! Be disciplined! Let your family and friends know in advance that you will be busy with studies, assignments, etc. Attempt to make library your new home if home is a busy, constant place for distractors.
To close, I find my experience with the school an 8 out of 10. I would consider this the most fairest program out of any institution I know of. But, there has been improvements compared to the first semester.
Also, if you have a job, you have to ask yourself, which is more important: getting paid or aiming at getting As? Sure, some have successfully balance both, but not everyone can do it! It's important to evaluate what works best for you. Remember, your aim is to line yourself up for success, not failure.
Please-Please inbox me or let me know if you have any additional questions, worries, or concerns. Take care and keep safe!

Same for me. I’m waiting on my last letter of recommendation but I’m afraid to submit it without officially knowing if they received it.

Thank you for this! Any chance you know if there are any students in the program that have children? I’d love to connect and hear their experiences /balancing parenting and school...
@lovelyflower21 Thanks for all of your advice. I was just accepted to PSON and am deciding between there and NYU. I have heard some conflicted advice and wanted to chat with you a bit more, if possible. For some reason, my all nurses account will not let me inbox you. Any chance you can inbox me? I would greatly appreciate it!
everyone who has heard back already... did you apply for Summer or fall? do you think the fall applicants are at a disadvantage now?
I am submitting my application in tomorrow but I am nervous because I am currently enrolled in two pre requisite classes (ethics and nutrition) so my application is not "complete".
