have you had a mormon patient? how did you know he or she was mormon? what was it like? I am writing a paper on end of life practices of mormon culture but have never knowingly had a morman patient.
I'm LDS, and not quite sure what you mean.... We believe in life after death, all apart of what we call the plan of salvation, but that's not just death, it includes our life before we were born and while on earth. It's a continuum, so death is just a part of it. When in the hospital, instead of the usual chaplain we get visits from priesthood leaders and receive blessings from them. We are buried in temple clothing if we have already gone through the temple.... Again, not sure what you specifically want to know! But ask any question you want, we love it when people want to know about our faith and culture.

Can you elaborate on what comprises temple clothing? I've heard all kinds of things, so I would like to know what it really is.
This might be better served in religious forum be we shall see.
I think that we need to be as helpful as we possibly can without doing the work for the nursing student. We ARE the largest nursing community on the internet.....I think we should try to at least help students find the right path.
OP there have been several responses from the church itself I think they would be a great resource.

Not to hijack this thread but Hi ESME12!!!!
I think the main concern I've ever had as a nurse is the famous 'Mormon Underwear'. It's a sacred undergarment that should be left on at all times, if possible. Other than that, LDS folk are pretty mainstream American. They tend to value traditional family structure quite a bit. They take care of their own quite well and have a strong work ethic. And they avoid caffeine and alcohol.
I'd say, our nation would be in better shape if there were more members of the LDS church.
