Anyone watch the first episode of the new season on Nip/Tuck? This Momma character who's skin had kind of merged with the fibers of her living room chair was so shocking. My mom (a retired nurse) and I, at first, didn't know whether to cry or laugh while we were watching this whole situation unfold! I've never heard of anyone lying or sitting on furniture so long that their skin grew into it. Does anybody know of this really happening? Also, if this lady had stayed in that chair for 3 years, how did she manage to go to the toilet? I was wondering if this was based on a real life incident. I searched the Nip/Tuck website but couldn't find anything on this. I laughed when I saw Dale the Whale on Monk, but this Momma character beats Dale the Whale out by a mile! They made this actress up to look so real that I'm sure it's going to be talked about. It wasn't just the folds of skin, but the coloring in her face just made her look so realistic. I believe that the actress who played this Momma character also played her daughter at the very end because they kind of looked alike. The actress was given no credit in the cast of characters for the episode on the show's website. I thought she did a fabulous job.

Yes, the link works! Thank you so much! I kind of figured that the episode had to be based on a real incident. How sad! She obviously had to be incontinent, wouldn't she? I'm having a hard time understanding how someone could remain in one position for years and not have had a life-threatening problem much sooner. Thanks again for providing the link!

Kathy Lamkin played Momma. I'm not sure who played the daughter, but from the picture I saw on IMDB.com for Kathy Lamkin, I think it was another actress.

She was septic...and they had already decided they would have to take off the one leg they took the specimen from. Probably would have killed her anyway if she hadn't lost too much blood/OD'd on Xylocaine/lost the will to live or whichever happened...

That was a really good episode last night, IMHO that show is better than ER. Though I got sidetracked for some reason when I was watching it, I thought they were at christian's funeral? How come he was alive on the next scene. Can anyone explain that...Though I think the best episode was the ''undoing'' of joan rivers' plastic surgery, like all of it....But I felt so sad for ''momma'' she was a very very sweet lady. Though you kinda expect her not to make it given the extensive involvement, and i think they said it was nec fasciitis. Anyways it was a good show.
Christian's funeral was a dream sequence he was having. The dream stops when his casket won't lower into the grave and gets stuck. He told Sean that this was a recurring dream he had been having since his attack.
There were things about this story that were funny and things that were really serious. I just knew that her husband was going to be a skinny old guy--I thought they'd give him a couple of missing teeth to complete the picture, but they didn't. I think they did an excellent job of showing the professionalism of the rescuers and Sean as they were trying to help this lady in her predicament. They treated her very respectfully although they did confront her husband. It was interesting that when she told them she didn't want her neighbors to see her like she was when they were taking her out of the house, they shielded her from the onlookers. Now, that was a true and excellent portrayal of today's healthcare workers doing their jobs.

The show was great last night. Nip/Tuck caters to my evil twin dwelling inside me. It's so dark, and I'm usually a comedy/love story kind of a person. Perhaps it's just Julian McMahon...
