what do you do with moochers? ;)

That's all I'm saying! lol. Some replies never cease to amaze me.

So, I'm confused....if you feel that "whoops, oh well, life just happens." Why come on here and ask folks opinions about whether you should let folks cheat from your homework?

Ok, I confess....really I don't understand the dilemma at all....why would anyone give away their hard work to someone not doing their own work? Yes, I know...don't want to cause "friction." I guess I'm just not that concerned what a cheater thinks of me.

I stated that you were "playing into stereotypes" in response to your post, which you deleted, in which you referred to a stereotypical image of yourself as possessing certain qualities based upon your race. You stated that you felt that by going against this, your classmates would turn against you. How is that not playing into a stereotype, by going along with what your classmates expect of you based upon your race?

Maybe you don't understand the term "you're not doing them any favors". It means that you are doing a disservice to your classmates not only by enabling their stereotyping of you, but by providing them with the answers instead of making them do their own work.

See, this is where you went wrong. You ASSUMED that I made up stereotypical qualities. NO- these were STATED by classmates in DIRECT REFERENCE TO MY RACE. Please ask next time. I don't randomly throw out stereotypes..but I can see how you would have taken it that way.

And you were not clear on the "favor" part. I understand what you mean now.

I recently was at a testing situation. I had several pages of notes with me that another person being tested saw and made a comment about. Later, I could not find my notes, although I looked all over for them. Of course, I am certain that this person helped herself to my notes. She was using her street smarts for her own advantage. Had she asked me for them, we could have found a copy machine and I would have been happy to make a copy for her. Instead she took them. Smart on her part.

Now, lest folks get the idea I'm not a team player...couldn't be farther from the truth. If folks want to talk about the concepts or know how I approached a math problem, etc no problem, happy to help. But my help is going to require the other party to be doing their work....not me doing it for them.

I completely agree. It beats me to why people have no shame when it comes to cheating/mooching.

WHOA-this is CREEPY. I'm paranoid..I take my bag with me everywhere. LOL. Wow..I seriously cannot believe someone would do that. INSANITY!

Time to steer away from the shoals of personal misunderstandings and corrections and head back out into the open waters of discussing what to do with classmates who want to mooch. Anyone who feels the need to engage in a 1:1 discussion with another poster, please do so via PM or email.

Thanks.

The last paragraph is where you contradict yourself, but also understand my point.

It has nothing to do with confidence/spine, etc. Today I took my paper from a girl

trying to use it and said, "No, I need that right now" and walked off. This has been

done.

This is not an issue with just one person..it's several that my "team" is hoarding off! lol

Your assumption about an "exclusive group" is wrong. We are nursing classmates who

make good grades and happen to get along. I get along with everyone, but I tend to

gravitate towards individuals like myself. There is nothing wrong with that.

You ARE right about your "street smarts" conclusion. My college is in a big/bad/inner city. lol Funny enough!

There is nothing that I said that contradicts something else that I said. Actually, I have looked at my post and your post and have no idea what you are trying to say.

Your original post contains numerous references to "OUR group" which makes you sound exclusive. If you read my post carefully, you will see that I made no assumption that you are an exclusive group. I said "sounds like" and that it may "come across" as snotty. The truth is that your description continues to be unflattering. (Actually, it almost sounds like you are trolling.)

Like Virgo_RN, my opinion is my own. Its really not for you to judge whether its right or wrong. I am just telling you what my experience is.

I took my prereqs in downtown ATL and streetsmarts are definitely where its at.

Wow, I really cannot reword everything I type. You can't look into it like that. (as far as the "my group").

It's just 3 of us. We sit nearby and we are all on the same wavelength. People---SERIOUSLY--YOU DIDN'T

HAVE A "GROUP"? Why do I feel like I have to break every little thing down?

And that's great about your pre-reqs being in the ATL. I go to college in the South Bronx. lol JUST SAYIN'!

I agree with this! But do you actually tell this to them ver batum? I'm just curious. I see a lot of people giving hard-ball answers on here (and I LIKE those answers), but I go to college with some ROUGH people and not even THEY say things in the manner some are suggesting. So it makes me really wondering if it's more thumping of the chest sort of. Don't get me wrong..I LIKE THE REPLIES! lol

I am from New York and yes, I have been described as very blunt with people. I have no problem flat out saying, "No. Sorry but no." and leaving it there.

Its also something that the more experience you get doing it, the easier it becomes. Its not chest-thumping. Its the truth.

Yeah. Uh. Grew up in New York. ATL is the murder capital of the country and is rougher than any part of New York I was ever in. I totally invite you to visit. Its just...special.

Edited to add: No. I have no group. I am an integrator by nature. I don't like "groups".

Thanks, been there done that. I thought ATL was boring personally. I've also been to Detroit,

Cleveland, East St. Louis, Compton,Chicago, etc. In MY personal opinion, East St. Louis was far more "special" ;).

I've got family all over. Guess I've been lucky to visit those special places! lol
