Hey all,
While looking at information for the Modesto Junior College RN program I came across an awesome thread on here for the 2018 application period. It was great to read through and see how much they motivated each other. It gives us an opportunity to stress together and bond while waiting to see if we get in. I am hoping to make a successful thread for those of us ready to apply in May.
Best of luck to all
A board member when i took my nursing 115 final said the lowest score who will be admitted for the nursing program for 2019 is 71 points. Anything below 71 points, you will be put on the list of alternates
btw, there's quite a few applicants who are TIED at 71 points. They will follow the Delta college system when it comes to tie breakers by admitting the student who took the SCIENCE PREREQUISITES at MJC FIRST.
if you scored 71 and wasn't admitted but instead got an alternate spot, it was because you didn't take your science prerequisite at MJC as to why they didn't consider you over the person who got 71 points who took her science prereqs at MJC
btw, the people who will start the nursing program on either fall or spring will be selected randomly via computer, and not via points. So if yuo are upset that you have to begin the nursing program on spring, it wasn't because of your points, but because of random selection by the computer.
Lastly, July is when you will know if you got admitted. That's when they verify all supporting documentation from everybody invited to do it.

Wow, this is some great info...Does this include Columbia sattellite program or were the points lower for that??

78+ is pretty much mandatory if you want to get in the nursing program in 2020 and beyond because they are taking less applicants based on merit(from 100 to 80) and it's now easier to accumulate more points; therefore, the point distribution will be more TIGHT among applicants. For example, a 4.0 on science prereqs doesn't guarantee admission if you factor in your competition who can accumulate points via other means.

Xflashxlv thank you for this great info! I have a question though. You mention that in July those that are invited are going to have supporting documentation verified..what is the difference between supporting documentation approved vs verified?

the 71 point minimum cutoff apply to BOTH MJC and Columbia sattellite
they take the 20 out of the 100 MJC chosen applicants to columbia sattelite. It's the same for MJC, the columbia sattelite goes by who has the highest score out of the 20 selected so it's slightly more competitive.

i'm not too sure about this. When you turn in your supporting documentation at glacier hall, they will answer this question. More often than not, if all supporting documentation checks out and there aren't any mismatches or contradictory or differing information, you should be good.

wow you have great information. thanks for your input in this thread. This is my second year applying, this time with a little more points and I've never seen some one have so much knowledge about it. Thank you! It makes me feel more confident about my points.

Caro27 I noticed that you had your supporting documents approved last year when you applied to the program..just curious..what was the reason you did not get into the program (if you don't mind sharing of course)?
