Hi guys! I thought it would be a great idea to start a new thread for those of us who are planning on applying to Modesto Junior College RN program. It would be great if we would all share with how many points we are applying with, this would give us an idea to see what are our chances are on getting in the program. With all the new changes, it is hard to tell what the cutoff on the points will be. I will be retaking my TEAS and hoping to apply with maybe 80 points or so. Hopefully ?????

“ PEOPLE WHO DONT DESERVE TO GET IN!!” With all respect, I do not agree with this comment. All of us have worked very hard to get to where we are right now. We all have different situations and some of us have had a difficult journey! I am not ashamed to say that my GPA was not 4.0, I had to retake a few classes to bring it up. Now, the only thing that is holding me back from being in the high points range is ONE B and of course I don’t have any work experience in the medical field which would give me more points. With that being said, most likely I will be part of the lottery along with other super bright students that I know, but that does not mean that we don’t deserve to get in. People pass away, little miracles are born, and yes this pushes us behind sooooo much but it does not mean we don’t deserve to be in the program. I personally know a retired nurse that was part of management and she made it very clear to me that straight A’s had nothing to do with how good of a nurse you would be or if you would do good in the nursing program. There is way more to it than grades. I know a few including myself that will probably be part of the lottery and I know we are capable of doing well in the nursing program and we do deserve to get in!! Sorry for such a long post guys. ??♀️??♀️ GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!! I know we will all be great nurses!! Let’s all stay positive and spread only but good vibes!!! By the way, with all C’s specially on the science portion, you can’t apply ?. HOPING AND WISHING THE BEST TO ALL OF US!

I’m one of the “people who don’t deserve”
I am applying with low points. Not one C in my prerequisites...One language speaker, 74.7 teas and a repeat in a science due to my father passing.
I’m applying with a 61, I’ve worked in healthcare for 10 years.
what about you

In regards to the user who commented about the lottery being BS and that people who don’t have high points won’t make it. YOU ARE WRONG!!!!!! I have worked in the health care field for 5 years and I worked with nursing students who were my science pre Rec class tutors and they cannot handle their clinicals what’s so ever! You shouldn’t go about bad mouthing until you actually get feel for what nursing really is. I myself am applying with 60 points and know that I will have no problem keeping up in nursing school??

High gpa and high points don’t mean you’ll pass the nclex, or be a good nurse. Many factors are at play and nursing schools know this.
I know many nurses whom I work with whose entrance scores were not high and I would trust them with my life.
