MJC allnurses 2020

Updated:   Published

Hi guys! I thought it would be a great idea to start a new thread for those of us who are planning on applying to Modesto Junior College RN program. It would be great if we would all share with how many points we are applying with, this would give us an idea to see what are our chances are on getting in the program. With all the new changes, it is hard to tell what the cutoff on the points will be. I will be retaking my TEAS and hoping to apply with maybe 80 points or so. Hopefully ?????

Are we suppose to print the entire page where the prerequisite course is at?

Yes, print the catalog page that your course is on.

Okay Thanks!

On the deduction part of it for withdrawing a class. When it says 3 years prior that includes the whole year of 2017 correct?

So I talked to Donna in the Allied health building and she said that everybody with at least 60 points got asked to submit documents so there’s no reason to get too excited yet...if you have At least 80 points you should be good though

Good info for everyone! I am just short if this cycle cut-off is 80 as I have 79. I might be in the lottery 20% depending on how things shake out. Staying hopeful though because one never knows!!

Bringing the lottery back is complete ***...people who don’t deserve to get in are ***ing it up for people who worked hard to do good

Ya not sure I agree with you there?? everyone's situation is different and the lottery is only a small fraction of those selected. And just because someone gets selected for the lottery doesn't mean they didn't work as hard as those chosen strictly by points. I'm sure I speak for the majority when I say if we've gotten to this point we've ALL worked our butts off. What may come easy to others is a struggle for some so I see it as an opportunity for those to get in that wouldn't otherwise have a chance. So good luck to all ???

?? Well said, the lottery is just for a small amount.

If you have a lot of points, I would try for somewhere like Delta college or any of the CSUs because their average GPA for those accepted are high

If people couldn’t cut it in the prerequisites then they will have even more problems in the actual program which is way harder...people will drop or fail and those empty spots could have went to someone who had only one B instead of someone who got all C’s

Actually I gotta correct you on that. I work at a hospital and there are MANY nurses I work with that their grades for one reason or another didn't make the cut and they had to find alternate routes. Some chose private while others chose to commute to get into a program. Let me tell you though they are some of THE most amazing nurses. So your mistaken in thinking those that have gotten C's won't make the cut. What I've learned is it's PERSEVERANCE that separates those that get through the program. A person doesn't have to be top of their class they just need to have that fire to succeed.

I must say that in my case it isn't that my pre-req grades are a problem because I have all A's in that area. I am amongst those that don't have the background in the field, although I am currently working on that, so we can't claim points in that area. everyone who is eligible has worked or sacrificed in some way to earn their way to apply. I want to get in just as bad as the next person. I wouldn't discount anyone elses journey. We all have to keep applying to the schools that we are willing to commute to until we get acceptance or decide to move on.
