MJC allnurses 2020

Updated:   Published

Hi guys! I thought it would be a great idea to start a new thread for those of us who are planning on applying to Modesto Junior College RN program. It would be great if we would all share with how many points we are applying with, this would give us an idea to see what are our chances are on getting in the program. With all the new changes, it is hard to tell what the cutoff on the points will be. I will be retaking my TEAS and hoping to apply with maybe 80 points or so. Hopefully ?????

For our teas score, the official teas score is the one we order through ATI website, right?

Yes have it sent over to them. Where it says share results. I also included my receipt saying it was sent to them to be safe.

Don’t mean to offend anybody and I’m sure there are some good hard-working people but points in the low 60s is really not fair to the people who are in the high 70s who might not get in because of this I’m also a single parent and a healthcare worker myself but hey life‘s not fair somebody might get in with 60 points...just remember, the World needs nursing assistants too LOL

You say you don’t mean to offend anyone but you make comments like the world needs nursing assistants too...

Lottery is lottery so if you didn’t make the merit cut you are in the lottery.

Why is it not fair? Everyone has a different path and some qualify for points that others might not. I don't have any healthcare experience and don't get points for that. You do and that's fine. Should I complain that it's not fair that you get points and I don't? Or people that are bilingual get points and I don't? It's the way it's set up and we've all worked hard to get here. With your logic, it shouldn't be fair that people in the high 70s get in when there are people in the 90s. Maybe anyone below 95 should be a nursing assistant then?

Complaining that it’s not fair that someone has the experience is ignorant...that means that they went to some sort of program got points for that and got a job and are getting points for that... at MJC it is so easy to do a nursing assistant or medical assistant program and find a job so I don’t feel bad for anybody who hasn’t done that it’s three easy *** points all I’m saying is it should go back to the way it was before no lottery strictly based on points

I didn't complain. I'm saying that should people complain about points that they don't qualify for? Again, should people complain that bilingual people get points? It's not so easy to just go pick up another language and become fluent enough to get the points. And you saying it's so easy to do a nursing assistant or medical assist program is relative. We all have no idea what other peoples lives are like personally, financially, etc. and what's considered easy for them to do.

Anyway, best of luck to everyone.

Guys now this thread was made to help each other with the application and to encourage each other. Let’s all please stay positive and just hope for the best. We all want to be nurses and attitudes like some that I have seen are not good attributes for nurses. One thing that I want to point out is that yes there are ways to get points. I went through the EMT program at Mjc which I passed the class and did great. Now Even though I passed the program I cannot get the 3 points unless I pass the National registry. I experienced the worst year while trying to do the National registry. I had a nephew pass away, a cousin pass away, a very close friend pass away, I got into a car accident, my mom and dad were both hospitalized at the same time my dad being very critical at the same time I was juggling 5 classes which went well, 4 kids, but I couldn’t do the National registry on time to get my 3 points. This was just a little example on how things just get on the way! Once again I wish the BEST to everyone and let’s all please stay positive. Wherever I get in, I’m anxious to start the program and meet my classmates! GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!

Yes Irene, I agree. I created this thread for positivity and encouragement as well as updates.
So lets all do that. When it’s your time to get it, it will happen ?

I also applied to Fresno, and will be applying to Merced.
I was thinking about Delta but it’s too far of a drive for me.

What’s the farthest people are willing to drive? (Trying to change the subject lol)

Also, I “know” someone who had 67 points and was not asked to submit documents

Agreed well said everyone. I am from LB and i applied to Fresno, mjc, Hartnell (Salinas) and applying to Merced. Delta is on the far side so I’m going to wait until September to apply there if i dont get in to one of the previously mentioned. I also intend to apply to Stan in September as well. Salinas is not as far as Stockton would be but I am not a huge fan of driving over the hill lol so we will see how things turn out. Again good luck to all

Lol good point Irene and Natalie. I actually live in Sacramento, so MJC and Los Medanos is the furthest for me. I also will be applying to Delta, but it's closer for me than you guys.

67 and was not asked? Did they double check their junk mail? That's where I found my email.
