Fresno City College Fall 2020/Spring 2021

Hi guys, so update on applications. I emailed someone from the allied health asking if there still going through applications. I mentioned that some of us were concerned because some students status had changed to eligible and others were still pending. Somehow it got the the director and she messaged me back saying that they are still going through applications. So for those of us that our status is still pending most likely they still have not gone over our application but they are working on it. I asked if there would be any delays due to the situation but she didn’t respond to that.

So I called allied health and they have no idea till when they will close the application or what exactly will happen. I’m just wondering how bad this will affect everyone. If the situation stays the same with this virus going around will they even take students this time around?

Yes that would be a long drive but at the end it should be worth it. I am still nervous about that though lol

I applied to mjc and Fresno and will be applying to Merced. I live in Tracy so Fresno is a 2 hour drive and that would be the farthest I would drive.

Guys now this thread was made to help each other with the application and to encourage each other. Let’s all please stay positive and just hope for the best. We all want to be nurses and attitudes like some that I have seen are not good attributes for nurses. One thing that I want to point out is that yes there are ways to get points. I went through the EMT program at Mjc which I passed the class and did great. Now Even though I passed the program I cannot get the 3 points unless I pass the National registry. I experienced the worst year while trying to do the National registry. I had a nephew pass away, a cousin pass away, a very close friend pass away, I got into a car accident, my mom and dad were both hospitalized at the same time my dad being very critical at the same time I was juggling 5 classes which went well, 4 kids, but I couldn’t do the National registry on time to get my 3 points. This was just a little example on how things just get on the way! Once again I wish the BEST to everyone and let’s all please stay positive. Wherever I get in, I’m anxious to start the program and meet my classmates! GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!

“ PEOPLE WHO DONT DESERVE TO GET IN!!” With all respect, I do not agree with this comment. All of us have worked very hard to get to where we are right now. We all have different situations and some of us have had a difficult journey! I am not ashamed to say that my GPA was not 4.0, I had to retake a few classes to bring it up. Now, the only thing that is holding me back from being in the high points range is ONE B and of course I don’t have any work experience in the medical field which would give me more points. With that being said, most likely I will be part of the lottery along with other super bright students that I know, but that does not mean that we don’t deserve to get in. People pass away, little miracles are born, and yes this pushes us behind sooooo much but it does not mean we don’t deserve to be in the program. I personally know a retired nurse that was part of management and she made it very clear to me that straight A’s had nothing to do with how good of a nurse you would be or if you would do good in the nursing program. There is way more to it than grades. I know a few including myself that will probably be part of the lottery and I know we are capable of doing well in the nursing program and we do deserve to get in!! Sorry for such a long post guys. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!! I know we will all be great nurses!! Let’s all stay positive and spread only but good vibes!!! By the way, with all C’s specially on the science portion, you can’t apply . HOPING AND WISHING THE BEST TO ALL OF US!
