Missed Dosage Calc by two points!!!

Published

Edison Community College in Piqua, Ohio requires us to achieve a grade of at least a 90% on our dosage calc test to remain in the program. I received and 88% yesterday. The good news is I have one more chance next week to take it again. I just made some stupid mistakes because I rushed through it too fast. I can't know the material any better than I already do. I'm holding my head up and moving forward because I know I will pass it the next time.

What is your schools policy on dosage calc. tests?

At our school we have to pass with a 90% and we have 2 chances but we have to take the test again a week later. What I did was after they handed out the test and told us to begin I wrote the conversions on the back. Even though I knew them I have a tendency to go blank when I'm taking a test and its a good thing I did because I got stuck on a 1/6 of grain question yesterday when I took mine and I made a 100! Thank you GOD!:w00t:

Congratulations.

At my school we must achieve a 98% in 2 attempts or we're out. I take it Feb. 26th... and am sooo nervous!!!

At my school you have to get a 95% to pass the dosage calc class. We then take a dosage calc exam before we begin each new clinical rotation and have two chances to get a 95% or you cannot go to clinicals that rotation.

We have to get a 100% or we're out of the program. Quite honestly, I kind of thought this would have been the standard at all nursing schools...

We take it at the beginning of each semester. We have to get a 90 and have three chances to pass. We only have 10 questions o the test though. :omy:

at my school you have to make a 90%(20 questions) and we get 3 tries at it.

I completely blew up the 1st test, I mean went BLANK, made a 75,

4 days later, took the 2nd test and made a 100%.

Just take you some deep breaths before the exam and kick it's butt!

Ours is 2 tries, 50 questions. 90% or above or your out. They are both in the first 4-6 weeks of class. And NO they do not teach the DA you are told to obtain a certain book and learn it yourself.

A lot of students struggle with the calculation test. I've found that most errors are due to missing units, leading zeros, dose per day - detail stuff. The actual math isn't the issue. Take it one problem at a time and triple check the "little" stuff!! You'll do fine!!!!

same here, I failed my peds dosage exam and have to retake it next week before i can administer meds. Does anyone know some good study sites, u definitely aren't alone...but I really did not study for it so Im not that upset
